As a lot of you know, your fellow author here stupidly forgot about the exceeds. So here is her rendition of what happened to them over the last 20 years.

After Natsu came back from his one year of training with Happy, they came home to Lucy and Natsu's newborn son. They were both in shock, but adored little Luke nonetheless. Natsu's and Lucy's relationship continued to grow over the next year.

Lucy and Natsu got married that year. Decided to do it on the spot. Not long after that, did another Dragneel show up in the family.

Ahh, but this isn't Natsu and Lucy's story. It's about our dear exceeds. Specifically, Happy's story and his love for another exceed.

Well after all that time, Happy became a little... sad. There were no more adventures with Natsu and Lucy. Not to mention how busy they were with the young Dragneels. He was a little lonely. Lucy took notice, and at the time, was still keeping tabs on all members of the former guild, so she showed her where Wendy and Carla had settled. "They joined Lamia Scale...?" Happy asked. He had no idea what to say.

"Yeah, you can see Carla again. I'm sure she will be happy to see you," Lucy encouraged.

"I'm not so sure," Happy hesitated. "What about Natsu?"

"I know it's hard to see because he's so busy with Luke and Nashi, but he sees you. He hates seeing you look so sad."

"But how can I leave him?"

"You won't be leaving him. Trust me." Lucy then pulled out a small lacrima phone. "Use this to contact us. You can call us anytime."

Happy slowly took the phone and laid his paw over it. Taking a peek over his shoulder, he found in the doorway with his arms crossed and leaned up against the wall. He gave Happy a nod. Happy looked at the phone and back at Natsu. He flew over to him, crying, "I'm gonna miss you!"

Natsu chuckled as he embraced his exceed, "I'm only a phone call away. Go get your girl."

With that Happy left and headed to Lamia Scale. That's where he found 18 year old Wendy and her exceed, Carla.

He was extremely nervous. This would be the first time in four years that he's seeing her. So he gathered his courage, walked in straight towards Carla and yelled, "Carla, will you marry me?!" First time seeing her in four years and he was down on his knees, asking for her hand in marriage.

It came as a shocked for everyone of course, but most of all... it was Carla's response. With gleaming, sparkling eyes, she said, "Yes!"

There was a congrats left and right. The only problem was where to settle down. They thought of it over the course of the next several weeks. Carla remained insistent that she could never leave Wendy.

"I have an idea!" Happy exclaimed. "You know how Romeo finally asked her out on a date?"

"Yeah, what about it?" Carla inquired.

"She won't be alone because she has him!"

"Nope, not leaving her," Carla insisted.

"Not even a place near here?" Happy said, very exasperated.

"Nope!" Carla crossed her arms.

"Okay, so say she and Romeo get together and marry. She won't be alone because she has him. Can we get a place near here then?" Happy needed this to be a yes because he was out of ideas and didn't want to be living with Wendy and possibly Romeo for the rest of his life.

"If Wendy and Romeo marry sometime in the future, then yes. Yes, we can move out to a place near here," Carla decided.

Happy was satisfied, and even though it wasn't for another four years that the two finally married. He was content. After Wendy and Romeo got married, the two found a place just for themselves for the next twelve years when they run into the rowdy bunch of teenagers.

That story is for another time, in a later chapter. For now, they stayed in their cozy home and perhaps had a litter of exceeds.

All for another time though. Your fellow author will introduce them another time. For now she hopes you all enjoyed this short story of how Happy and Carla came to be and why they have yet to appear in this story (She seriously forgot, can you believe her?). See you all in the next chapter!
