Dr. Mackenzie Beck was reading patient notes and marking possible strategies to help her best connect with her patients. She had a few that refused to open up, and though she tried her best to push through, she was getting frustrated.

A knock sounded on her door and she did her best to ignore it. She had a deadline she needed to meet and couldn't afford to be distracted.

The knock sounded again.

Mackenzie let out a quiet huff and said, "What?"

Her husband Chris entered and smiled sheepishly. "Sorry. I know you hate being disturbed when you're working, but I found out some exciting news I couldn't wait to share."

She glanced up, pen in hand. "And it couldn't wait until dinner?"

"I was too excited to wait. But I suppose I can tell you at dinner if you'd prefer."

"No, you may as well say since you're here. What's the news?"

"I've been chosen to be the flight surgeon for a mission to Mars."

"Chris, that's amazing!" She stood, ran up to him, and hugged him.

He placed his hands on her shoulders. "They were also wanting a psychologist, just to keep an eye on mental states during the mission, and I put in a good word for you."

She frowned. "You know how I feel about flying."

"Baby, what other chance will you have to see space?"

"I haven't given my answer."

"Kenzie, right now they're just considering you for the flight psychologist, so you don't have to make up your mind just yet. But at least promise me you'll think about it, okay?"

She nodded. "Okay. Thinking is what I am best at."

"Maybe try not to overthink it," he said in a teasing tone.

"It's considered. Now, shoo. I need to finish these notes, but I'll meet you for dinner, okay?"

He kissed her and nodded. "Sounds good. Do you want to eat at home or should we meet up somewhere?"

"I've been craving Italian all day, so I say we meet up somewhere."

"Seven? I'll pick a place."

Mackenzie glanced at her watch. It was almost five. "I should be able to do seven. I'll text you if I'm running late or get out early."

"All right, see you then. I love you."

"I love you too."

He kissed her again and left the office.

With a smile, Mackenzie sat back at her desk and turned back to her notes.
