As Chris stepped out of the evaluation room, he took Mackenzie's hand and said, "You can do this."
Mackenzie nodded slowly. "Thank you for the vote of confidence."
He squeezed her hand. "I'll be right outside, okay?"
She nodded and kissed him. "See you soon, Chris."
"Good luck, honey."
Mackenzie smiled nervously and made her way into the evaluation room.
The psychologist smiled and said, "You were chosen specifically for this mission. How does that make you feel?"
Mackenzie folded her hands. "Everyone was chosen because of their specific skill set."
"Yes, but you have a specific job to monitor how everyone, yourself included, is doing with their mental health."
"I'm just monitoring how they interact in a new environment." She twirled her ring, wishing her evaluation would be over soon. She already had to worry about flying. At least this portion would likely be over shortly.
The psychologist noticed her action and the expression on her face and said, "I wish you the best of luck, Dr. Beck."
Mackenzie nodded. "Thank you."
The brunette stood and left the room as quickly as she was able. It was one thing evaluating someone else, but it was a different matter being evaluated herself.
Chris walked up to her and smiled lightly. "Not so bad, huh?"
"Liar. It was bad."
"But you did it. I'm proud of you."
"Well, now that our tortuous separated isolation is over, what do you want to do?"
He smiled as he tucked her hair back. "I want to spend time with my beautiful wife. Though if you're busy, we can wait."
She gave him a teasing smile. "I think I can make some time for you."
The two shared a smile and interlocked their hands as they walked away.
