One Of The Selected (Sophitz)

Chapter 2

I stood at the door where Edaline and Dex stood. Edaline had a tear running down her cheek and engulfed me in a hug. 

"We'll miss you sweetie. We'll see you on The Report of course and don't forget to call or write. I love you so much," I smiled and rubbed her back. 

"I promise. And I love you too," we broke apart and I hugged Dex. 

"My cousin, the new queen of Everglen. I can see it now," I smiled and gave him a tight squeeze before breaking apart.

"We'll have to see what the future brings. I'll miss you Dex and make sure to visit me while you're training," he smiled and nodded. 

"For sure," we did our little handshake, one that we created when we were 9 and I went to the car where Grady sat in the drivers seat. I gave one last wave to Dex and Edaline and got in, closing the door after me and putting on my seatbelt. 

It was only a 20 minute drive and I spent most of it reading a book. When we arrived I saw several selected girls. Me and Grady got out of the car and he helped get my bags out the trunk. He pulled me in for a big hug and stroked my hair, kissing the top of my head. 

"I'll miss you Grady." 

"And I'll miss you too honey. I'll try to find you in the halls when I work," I smile and break the hug. 

"You can count on it."

"You need help getting your bags?" I shake my head. 

"No thanks. I love you." 

"I love you too," I give him a kiss on the cheek and wave to him before heading to the staircase. And halfway going up I looked over my shoulder where I saw Grady's car driving away. And once I reached the top of the staircase and entered the palace, I immediately see Biana running at me. I set down my bags and she ran into me also hugging me. Several girls heads turned at the sight but I ignored them and hugged one of my best friends. 

"Oh my god! You're a selected! I can't believe it! And Fitz's face was so funny when he read the piece of paper that had your name on it! I am so happy! I can't believe we're going to be sisters!" I hadn't seen Biana this excited ever since she had a sugar rush. 

"Biana calm down. But there are 25 other girls in the selected, and I might not be the future queen of Everglen," she smiled and shook her head. 

"Oh Sophie. You oblivious human being. This is will be a fun selection. Its actually been a long time since the Vackers have had a selection. But I'm glad I'm here for it," then a maid came up to us. 

"Is it fine if I bring your bags to your room Miss?" she asked. 

"No need for Miss. Just call me Sophie and I would appreciate that a bunch, thank you," the maid smiled and picked up my bags and walked down the hallway. 

"That's one the kindest a selected had treated a maid. All the others just nod and then shoo them away," Biana commented. "Anyways let me show you your new room! It totally has your Sophie vibe!" She grabbed my hand and dragged me to my room. She opened the door and it looked exactly like my room at home. 

"How did you do this?" I say. Of course the room was shaped differently but everything was the same. 

"It was Fitz's idea. And your room was the only room we actually put effort into making it look nice. And we didn't wan you to feel homesick so we brought your home to you," I smiled and hugged Biana. 

"Thanks a lot! This is so great!" 

"Well I'm glad you like it. I'll leave you alone and unpack, see you at dinner," I waved back to her and left the room. I put my clothes in the drawers and not to my surprise when I opened the closet I saw several dresses on hangers. Halfway unpacking I heard a knock on the door. I left my bag and opened the door and saw three girls in front of me. They didn't look like the selected girls so I guessed that they were maids. They all had big smiles on there faces. 

"Hi! We're your maids for this selection! I'm Mary, she's Amelia, and she's Tiffany," I smile big at them and open the door to a wider angle. 

"It's wonderful to meet you all. I'm Sophie, but I think you all know that. And I just want to let you girls know that I will treat you like friends and not as maids," Mary nodded. 

"Thank you miss," Amelia said. 

"Call me Sophie." 

"Of course Mi- Sophie," Tiffany sat in a chair, her hands in her lap. 

"So are you excited to be in the selection? The princess told me you have quite a bond," I shrug my cheeks turning pink. 

"Yeah I guess. We've been friends since we were seven so we know each other really well," I respond. 

"Have you talked to him today?" Mary asked and I shook my head. 

"No, he's probably busy welcoming the other selected." 

"All right it's time to get you prepared for dinner," Tiffany said. 

"Isn't that in like 3-4 hours?" I ask. 

"All selected girls are to meet in the women's room 45 minutes before dinner starts," Amelia explained. I guess that made sense. Mary headed in the bathroom and went to the tub and turned on the hot water. Once reached a good amount she turned it off. 

After asking for some privacy I took off my clothes and slipped in. The girls came in and started doing my hair. This was going to take a long time to get used too. 

Once I finished taking a bath, I got a towel and wrapped it around me. Then I put on my undergarments and the girls helped me with putting on my dress. They then sat me in a chair and started on my hair and make up. Of course I requested only a limited amount of make up and they had done the job perfectly. 

"You look amazing, when the Prince sees you his jaw is going to drop," I blushed and looked in the mirror. 

"Thanks girls. You all are amazing." 

"We already knew that now go! You don't want to be later," I smile and try to give them a hug but they declined because there worried they're going 'crinkle' the dress. So instead I wave and head out the door where other selected made there way to the women's room as well. 

Taking in a deep breath I blended in the crowd.
