One Of The Selected (Sophitz)

Chapter 3

I made my way to the Women's room where there were several groups of girls talking and I walked to the small bookshelves they had, grabbed one and made my way to an empty chair and opened it. After 30 minutes of reading I felt someone sit beside me. I looked up and the girl had black hair that was put in a braid and she had bangs and the tip of it was silver. She seemed to notice me staring and turned my way a smile on her face. 

"Hi! My name is Linh Song. You are?" she held out her hand for a hand shake and I shook it. 

"Sophie Foster-Ruewen." 

"The head guard of the kings royal army has the same last name as that. Is he your father?" I nod and her eyes widen. 

"Have you ever met the royal family?" 

"Yeah, the king and queen are like family to me. And me, the prince and princess are best friends. I practically grew up in the palace," she gasped. 

"That's so cool! How is the prince like?" I shrug. 

"Its nothing big, he's just an ordinary person. He likes to read, he likes sword fighting, he kind, sweet, cute- oh sorry I'm rambling I do that sometimes," she shook her head. 

"Don't worry it's fine. It's actually a habit of mine as well and sometimes I don't even notice I'm doing it," I nod. After talking more we heard clink of a glass cup. At the door stood a woman with brunette hair that reached her shoulders and her eyes were emerald green. She had a white dress on that was plain but reached her ankles. 

"Hello girls! Welcome to the selection! I'm Summer and here in the women's room you will perform several tasks to show if you're queen worthy. Of course the king, queen, and prince will be seeing them so I expect you all to put you're best effort into them. We will start those tasks next week since you all have just arrived. After the prince has gone on a date with all of you he will start eliminating 3 girls every week. Please form a single file line and you all will make your way to the dining room," everyone started standing up and getting in a line. And soon we headed out to the dining hall. We made our way into the dining hall where a long table was placed in the center of the room and enough seats to fit us all and another table sat on the side which looked much fancier and had 5 chairs which I'm sure was meant for the royal family. 

We all took our seats and soon the Alden, Della, Alvar, Fitz, and Biana made there way through the doors and walked to the table and took there seats. Then Alden stood up and clinked his glass cup with a spoon and once he had all the girls attention he started talking. 

"Welcome ladies to Prince Fitz's selection! Over the next two months you all will try to prove Fitz if you would be a good wife and good queen for our kingdom. And soon by the end of the two months Fitz will have to choose between the final three girls still left. But putting that aside let dinner begin!" He sat down and several people with dish trays entered the room most of them going to the the royal family table first but then to our table. As everyone started putting food on there plate I locked eyes with Fitz. 

Meet me in my room after dinner he mouthed. I nod my head and start putting the food on my plate. Me and Linh continued talking, getting to know each other. 

"So have you talked to any other girls?" I asked. She shrugged. 

"I mean only a few but we didn't talk much. So how do you like your maids?" she asked, putting a forkful of salad. 

"They're great. They're really nice and I treat them more as my friends than actual maids." 

"A lot of mine are a bit shy but they get there work done very well but they're also really nice too," and soon dinner was over all the girls walked back to there rooms. I didn't see the girls so I thought they were on a break. I changed into shirt and pants and right as I opened my door I saw the girls.
