After breakfast, all the girls headed to the woman's room and soon Summer came in behind us with a big smile on her face.
"Hello, girls! This Thursday our own Prince Fitz Vacker will be hosting a ball! How many girls know how to dance?" A bit less than half raised their hands including me. Growing up we were taught how to dance, and it was always a fun class.
"Okay that seems about half, in the next three days we'll learn posture, how to act around others, and how to dance. Understood?" All girls muttered yeses or nodded their heads.
"Today we'll learn posture and maybe a bit of how to act. Now girls follow me to the ballroom," after 2 long agonizing hours later, we finished the lesson and I walked to my bedroom, falling on my bed, my back facing the ceiling. I kicked off my shoes and relaxed as my feet escaped their prison. I laid on my bed in silence before a certain princess barged in my room.
"Sophie please help me," she said. I groaned and flipped over so I was now facing her.
"What?" she rolled her eyes at my tone of voice and started pacing around the room.
"There's something I need to tell you," she said. "I have a boyfriend."
"What?!" she nodded. "You have a boyfriend?" she nodded once again. "When?"
"Just about a month ago. And today I have a date with him."
"So what's the problem?" I ask her.
"My dad didn't allow me to leave the palace, so I can't go out." I started thinking about this.
"I did tell Fitz that I would spend the day with you... maybe I can ask Alden to let us go out together. And then you can go on your date and I could take a walk around the village," she fiddled with her fingers.
"Do you think it'll work?" she asked.
"I can't guarantee it but let's hope so," I answer. "So tell me about this boyfriend that I'm hearing about just now."
"I didn't really want to tell anyone because I just don't want anyone to judge me," I sat up and allowed her a place to sit.
"Why would anyone judge you?"
"He's kind of poor. Like a 6 or 7. He doesn't live exactly the best. He works in a bookstore but he doesn't make much. He also has a twin sister and they have a small cottage in the village. They barely have enough money to buy food and clothes." she explained. Twin sister. I just then remembered how Linh was explaining how she had a twin brother and barely enough money to survive.
"Is his last name Song?" she tilted her head and nodded.
"How'd you know?"
"Because his sister is in the selection, Linh. She was telling me how she lives with her twin brother and I just took a guess."
"Can you go ask my parents?" I groaned but I still got off my bed and started walking towards the door.
"You're barefoot!" Biana exclaimed. I shrugged.
"So? This gown covers my feet so I don't care. Come on," we both left my room and looked for Alden and Della. We knocked on the door of there office hearing a "come in" from inside.
"Hello girls. What can I help you with today?" Alden asked a smile on his face.
"I was wondering if me and Biana could go to to the village for a few hours? It's been a long time since we've actually hung out together," I explained. Alden and Della shared a look and he nodded.
"Sure, you girls have fun. Be back before dinner," I smile at him and nod.
"Thank you!" They gave us one last wave and we left there office, making our way back to my room.
"You made it look so easy," I shrug and flop on my bed once again. "Sophie get up, we have to go."
"Now?"
"Yup. So change and meet me at the palace doors," she instructed before leaving the room. I groaned and grabbed an outfit from the drawers and changed into it. I slipped on some comfortable shoes and put my hair in a nice ponytail. I left my bedroom and went to the palace doors. It took 10 ten minutes for Biana to arrive. We left the palace and made our way to the car, getting inside. We made small conversation before we arrived at our destination.
"Meet back here in 4 hours or so?" I asked and she nodded. After saying good bye we went different directions and I took a nice tour around the village. It was nice to just be by myself and not worrying about anything. Just take a break from reality. It was my favorite part of living in the village. I went to my favorite bookstore in the village and skimmed through the shelves. I saw one that caught my eye and flipped to the back of it. After reading the summary, I thought of buying it or not. I ended up buying 5 books.
"Hey Calla!" I greeted her, putting my books down. Me and Calla were good friends. I was usual customer and we knew each other well.
"Hey Soph. How's being a selected? You haven't filled me in on anything. I'm waiting for details," she said as she checked out the books.
"You have to work." She rolled her eyes.
"I'm officially on break," she said after scanning the last book. After paying we went outside where we sat on a bench that was close to the fountain.
"So tell me everything." And I did. I of course left out the part where Alvar had kissed me because whenever I thought or talked about it, everything came back to me.
"You are so lucky," she said, pouting. I shrugged my shoulders.
"I guess. You know I've always had a crush on Fitz but something happened," and I ended up telling her everything.
"Oh my god. You know that's treason right?" she whisper hissed. I buried my face in my hands and groaned.
"Yeah I know but it was an accident. He kissed me. I hated it. Every single second of it." She rubbed my back and didn't talk for a few good seconds.
"Did you talk to Fitz?" I shook my head.
"I just can't. Every time I'm around him or just looking at him, I feel guilty and I just can't talk to him because of what happened."
"I'm sure he'd understand," Calla said, trying to convince me. I shook my head.
"Fitz isn't good at controlling his anger. If I told him who knows how he would react?"
"I'm sure it wouldn't be that bad," she reassured.
"I just hope he doesn't find out and you're one of the two people I've told so please keep this secret," she smirked.
"You're secret is safe with me."

I decided to end it there just because I didn't feel like writing more. I have a 5 day weekend so I'll try my best to update! Thank you for the reads and votes! I'll see you guys in the next chapter! Byee!
