Chapter 2: Killing Scavs

You are currently relaxing in your apartment.

You remembered what Lucy told you about using your Sandevistan:

Lucy: "You need to take it easy. Overusing your Sandevistan like you did right now can and will lead to dangerous things later on. You need to learn to take it slow."

You then received a call from Lucy.

"Hello?"

Lucy: "Hey, (y/n), we've got another gig."

"What is it?"

Lucy: "We'll be retrieving a data shard from a bunch of Scavs. It's risky, but the pay is good, and if we play our cards right, they won't notice a thing."

"Sounds interesting. Where will we be located?"

Lucy sent you the location of the gig.

Lucy: "I'll meet you at this exact spot. Don't be late."

After this, you headed to an abandoned and called up Lucy.

"Where are you?"

Lucy: "I'm going to hack into the Scavs' security to shut down their defenses and distract him. You'll then slip in and try to avoid them since you don't have a weapon... yeah, you need to fix that situation badly."

You then head to the floor where the Shard is located and hide behind the corners and watch the Scavs guarding the entrance. It didn't take long for their optics to start acting up.

Lucy: "Get inside! Quickly!"

You slipped past the guards with your Sandevistan, then you crawled back on the floor, in time to notice the rest of the Scavs in the apartment.

Lucy: "Wait a moment."

Lucy then caused one of the monitors to short-circuit. The Scavs check it out and you slip past them, trying to lower the use of your implant.

You then reached a room that has been used to gut implants from bodies.

Lucy: "Scan around for the shard."

You do so and pick it up upon seeing it on a tray.

Just then, you heard the Scavs moving into the room.

"What do I do now?!?!"

Lucy: "Wait a second."

Just as the scavs went into the room, the lights went out.

Lucy: "Now get out!"

You used your implant to sneak out and dropped the shard off at a drop site, receiving your pay not long after.

Lucy: "That went well, didn't it?"

"It most cer--"

Just then, your stomach growled.

Lucy: "...Would you like to get something to eat?"

"Yeah."

After getting food, you sit on a bridge. You take a look at Lucy as you eat your kabob.

Lucy: "What is it, (y/n)?"

"Are we going to keep working together?"

Lucy: "Well, it's only been your second gig, but you're doing fine, so yes."

"Thanks," you told Lucy as you looked at the sights of lower levels of the city.
