The Music Box

A sound of a knife scrapped the chopping board along a woman singing echoed in the kitchen. As she continued to cut, her fingers working deftly but steadily. She takes out the ingredients she needed. The smell of the pancetta wafted through the air as it cooked.

"For I can't help falling in love with you~" A small smile played around the edges of the woman's lips as she sing and worked. She takes a sip  from her glass of white wine and sighs contently at the taste of it. Her eyes were closed and she was swaying back and forth slightly with her hips.

"Catherine?" A woman called out as she entered the kitchen. Catherine's eyes immediately lit up at the sound of her name being spoken by the other woman, it sounded like music in her ears. She placed down the glass and knife before she turned around quickly and smiled warmly. "Therese! Finally, You're back!" Catherine walked over the taller woman to give her a hug, her smile only getting wider. "Where's everyone?" Therese asked with a raised brow as she returned the embrace. "I gave them a three days break from work" Catherine stated, looking up at Therese. She cups her face in her hands before she reached up to her to gently give her a peck on her lips.

"And what about your... husband?" Therese inquired, tilting her head just the tiniest bit. "He's on a business trip, for a week" she mumbled with a smile before breaking the hug and headed back the counter. Once again picking up the knife and started cutting again.

"How about Roseanne?"

"My baby's already sleeping, she must be tired. You know what, she did really good today, Therese. She made me as well as her piano teacher, so so proud"   Catherine smiled so wide, giggling with a bright smile. She have such a pure and lovely face, like she was born from an angel or something. "Aww of course Roseanne did, she's so good at playing piano. Not just piano but almost everything. Oh god, I wish I was there to hear her play" Catherine looked over her shoulder,  flashing a wide smile at Therese. "No one can beat my daughter with anything, she's the best of the best" She giggled and returned her attention back to what she's cooking. Therese smiled and nodded her head, agreeing to what Catherine had said.

"By the way, There's something I have to tell you, Catherine"

"Hmm? What is it?"

"I passed the exam, I got chosen for the scholarship!! You know what? This is all thanks to you, if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have passed it. I'm so happy, Catherine!" Therese announced with excitement that can be thickly heard at her tone of voice. Catherine's smile however dropped, she paused from chopping as her whole body froze on the spot. "Which one, Therese? You've applied for so many" She asked, tears were threatening to fall from her eyes. Therese's smile faded, she looked down the floor. "Catherine, I'm going to Singapore" She said with a heavy breath. As soon as Catherine heard of that, her tears immediately fell from her eyes. She slowly turned around to face Therese. It was the answer she was expecting but not hoped for. She could feel her heart clenching shut, her sight were becoming blurry from the tears that is continuously forming on her eyes.

"Therese, no.. no. Please no, you can't go. Don't leave me. Don't leave me too, please" Catherine begged. Her hands were trembling. "Catherine, I have to. I need this" Therese mumbled which triggered Catherine's tears even more. "You're being unfair! You're going to leave me?! No, you can't! You won't!" Catherine was practically shouting, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand.

"I'm being unfair?! I'm the one who's being unfair, Catherine? You are married. You have a husband for fuck's sake and you tell me every time that we're together that you love me and yet, you can't leave your husband. You can't leave him, for us and for me! So I don't know if I could trust your words whenever you say that you love me, was that a truth or do you just say that to make me believe that you love me back and so you'll have someone to satisfy your needs whenever your husband's away! I asked you before, I asked you to leave here and be with me. You and Roseanne, I was so ready to risk it all, for you. Just for you! I told you, I don't want to be your secret anymore, I'm tired of it and I still am. I don't even know your plans, Am I going to stay as your fucking mistress forever? Will I ever get to tell everyone that 'Yes, Catherine is the woman I love'  because I badly want to do that. I want to shout it for everyone to hear, I badly do"
