CHAPTER TWO

" Hi is Jason there" said daisy slyly . Within seconds Jason came out and was shocked to see daisy all grown up , with more prominent features and full of maturity . He had seen her four years ago when she seemed so timid and childish . " come lets go for a walk " began Daisy as they walked past the garden in his house . Jason was 19 , young , tall , fair and handsome with a well built body and silky hair that were a bit brown at places . He had a deep voice but charming enough , to make a girl fall for him . They talked about many things , music , food and clubs . " so what do you do Jason " asked Daisy , maybe this was the first time she was going to let Him speak "umm,, I want to study law " he continued and said " and what about you ? " "I ?"said Daisy in her high pitched voice , maybe i wanna become , uh , a Dj" she was least interested in their talks as long as they were conversing with each other. She took him to the barley fields nearby . " I heard u did something to my sister here " chuckled Daisy . Jason looked completely embarrassed . He put his head down and wanted to run away from there. He fumbled for words and Said " I used to like her and I'm sure she hates me after what happened that day". His voice was filled with deep regret , but that was secondary for Daisy , she caught his hand and said " you should not feel bad for people like Natalie , they are always gonna remain like that . I pity your choice " she said and sat down on the bench overlooking the barley fields and the setting sun . It looked beautiful , the air jostled around and she moved her hair behind and tapped on the seat beside her , indicating Jason to sit next to her . He was quite . He widely remembered that moment when he had touched Natalie's soft lips , but it was sure he wanted more . And then after a flash of the good memories came the sad ones when she ran away in her white floral cotton dress. Till the time all this wavered in his mind, Daisy was constantly flirting with him and he knew it . " let's go back " he said awkwardly . Before Daisy could say anything he began walking towards his house . Daisy had to run behind him , carefully removing the heels from the mud at intervals.

" explain what actually happened " said granny serving Natalie the fish . " grandma , you know how much we love daddy , and I just cannot think of my life without him . He is my first priority in life , but since the past one year it feels like my love for him is pressed , it is fading , I don't know what I can do in this situation. He is out the entire day with Sandra , who is another doctor working in the same hospital as his , it is shocking but I feel he loves her more than us " . Grandma cleared her throat and said " I will tell u something about your grandfather George " . Natalie wanted to revert but intended to listen . She knew , deep in her heart that the old lady was going to give a solution . Grandmother continued " you know in those days , riots were something very common . And you grandfather , a soldier ,had to stay at the border for months " . She said it as if she had mugged the entire scene , something which just came out from her heart " we were so proud of him , that he fought for us and yet was happy and desperate each time he came to Scotland " " once he did not come home, we came to know by sources that the war was over and yet he was not home " " he was not dead for sure as your mother used to talk to him" " well we all were tensed about him & I decided to go to see him " she stopped for some breath and continued " on reaching there I learned your grandfather was in Edinburgh in a hotel. I went to Edinburgh with my children, your mother Jennifer and your uncle John. " "wait ....." Said Natalie in disbelief "what did you say ,mother and John , who john ??" . Her grandmother lifted up her hand signalling her to shut up " don't interfere when I'm talking " she said sternly . " so , I went to the hotel lake palace where I saw your grandfather dining with a fair lady with whom he shared a room .Seeing his father cross his limits , John ran away from there and yet , we have not found him. And that day I lost both my husband And my son" . Natalie was flabbergasted. She didn't know that she had an uncle. Strange. Natalie raised her finger , just like a child does when he WANts to ask a qUestion. " but what did you do?". "All I did was , turned back , went home and waited . I kept on waiting until my husband came back " three years passed , I sent out people to find John but all in vain . I had overcome my feelings,but yet I waited. Then one day your grandfather returned , came to me and cried , he hugged Jennifer and that day we all just sat quietly , without talking to one another , our silence was enough to understand our emotions" said grandmother with neutral expressions." What happened then??" Said Natalie with great concern " thereafter , the next day I prepared tuna for your grandfather and from then we are living the way u see us now" she laughed . " wait my child , keep on waiting , leave him alone , true love can't resist separation . I'm sure u will get back your father . But patience is the key" said grandma ,getting up to get the custard she had kept to set. Daisy rushed in , finished her lunch and sat idle , watching things around . The words that grandmother had said were hitting Natalie's ears again and again . She had a grandfather who had a bad affair , worst of all she had an uncle who was lost , she had just come to know how much her mother had suffered since childhood. But grandmother had rightly said " patience is the key "............
