"Here you go." Said Marcus as he hands the money over to me. He has a British tone in his voice. He's British. Elliot wasn't born here. He was born in England. Even he has the same British accent.
He notices that I'm curious about him. I think it made him feel weird.
"You are a pretty little girl." He said. It makes me feel awkward.
"Thanks." I mutter.
"Is that your son?" I say pointing towards Elliot's article which hangs on the wall."Yes."
"No offence but he doesn't seem to live..."
"I know. He probably doesn't even know that I'm even alive."Alive? What went wrong with him? I'm in a confusion loop now.
"I'm sorry." I said. I feel so bad for him. Elliot has been trying to trace him down for a very long time. He sometimes cried in his room with the doors locked. I wish I could help him. But I'm helpless myself, if I go in front of Elliot, I don't know if he'll be angry at me or happy to see me.
We leave.
On our way back to the pizza shop, I asked Hank, "Don't you go to school?"
"Lilith, its summer vacation." Hank replied.
"Ohh.." I said. Not my fault that I didn't know that. I never went to school."That guy has a son who is a rich brat and comparing him with his son, he lives in a slum." Said Hank. He had a point.
"Why doesn't your cousin stay with his father?" He asked.
"His parents got divorced. He probably doesn't even know that his father is alive." I replied. I remember once Elliot asked aunt Natalia about his father and she got pissed and said that he is dead.Elliot lives with an uncertain fact that his father exists or not. And look at me, I have a father, to whom I don't exist.
"You started a new life now. Don't you think you should get a little serious about it?" Asked Hank with a smirk on his face. I know what he means. And I have a perfect answer for him, "ofcourse I should. In fact I have decided that I'll get a makeover to impress you."
He laughs.
"I didn't mean it towards me, but if you want to impress me than you can..."
"Oh shut up!" I said laughing.Maybe he's right. I should get a better look. After all, new life deserves a new look.
