The three spirits were resting, Ori and Sein were sitting on the spirit well in each other's arms while Orin was leaning on a rocky wall. Ori looked at Orin, who looked somewhat troubled about something "Hey, Orin. You seem troubled, everything ok?" he asked "Yeah, everything's fine." Orin replied while trying to put on a reassuring smile. Both Ori and Sein saw right through it "We know there's something wrong, Orin." Sein replied to him with Ori nodding "Yeah. And you said it yourself before I brought you back, 'don't hide things from others, it could break the trust between you and them.'. You can tell us." Ori said to him.
Orin didn't say anything, but he knew it was true.
Orin sighed "It's just a memory from one of the ancestral trees." he told them. Ori had a feeling of which memory Orin was speaking about "Is it from Lora's ancestral tree?" Ori asked, which Orin nodded as he faced away from Ori, who swore that he saw a slight blue blush on Orin's cheeks but didn't pry any further "Did I just see a slight blush on his face?" Ori mentally ask himself. Ori just shrugged the thought off and got up "We should now head to Windtorn ruin." he spoke "Agreed. We should start heading there now." Seir replied. And with that, the three spirits began to trek into Windswept wastes with Seir leading the way.
As the four made their way into Windswept wastes, they saw sand everywhere "Is this what all Niwen will become if we cannot bring back the light?" Seir spoke worriedly "We will bring back the light. I refuse to let the rest of Niwen fall to the decay." Ori replied determined with Sein and Orin agreeing with Ori.
Seir led the three spirits northeast where the entrance of Windtorn ruin resided only to be stopped by a wall of sand "How is this even stable?" Orin asked puzzled "we don't know, but it currently blocks out path until we find a way around it or through it." Sein replied. Ori looked around and saw a path higher up with a blue plant next to the ledge, the plant had a different plant surrounding the blue plant, which closed shut after a small creature of decay touched the blue plant.
Ori watched this happen but didn't feel fear this time "There's a path up there, but we'll need to be careful of that plant that surrounds that blue plant." he pointed out the path and the blue plant to the three. "There could be something up there that could help us get through the sand, but we will need to be careful of that snapper plant." Seir warned "So that's what it's called, a snapper plant." Ori replied before he grappled to the blue plant and quickly jumped off the grappler plant before the snapper plant closed shut before opening a few seconds later.
"That was close." Ori said to himself as Sein grappled next and landed next to Ori safely with Orin doing the same as Seir floated to the three. "Did the snapper plant get any of you?" Seir asked with the three shaking their heads "Nope. We all seem fine." Ori replied "That's good. The last thing we need is any of you to be injured." Seir said relieved.
They began to trek the path that Ori found, which led to more blue plants with snapper plants surrounding them "We'll need to grapple upwards. We'll also need to be careful of those snapper plants." Ori spoke "It seems like it." Orin replied before grappling to the blue plant, then to the next, and the next before landing on the sandy ground next to the blue plant with Ori and Sein following as Seir floated up.
They continued down the path only to come across an ancestral tree with its trunk in a shape of a drill "An ancestral tree." Sein spoke as the spirits looked at the blue tree. The three spirits took in the shape of the ancestral tree "It looks like a drill. Maybe a burrowing ability?" Ori spoke "It could be. Let's find out." Orin replied with Sein nodding in agreement.
The three spirits approached the ancestral tree and place their paws on the tree, absorbing the light.
Ori, Sein, and Orin have acquired burrow! They can now burrow through sand!
"We can now burrow through the sand! We can now continue." Ori spoke "That's great to hear. Let's head back to the sand that stopped us before." Seir replied, which the other three agreed and made their way back to the wall of sand.
The four came back to the wall of sand. Ori gabbed Seir as he began to burrow, his body began to spin like a drill as he effortlessly went through the sand as Sein and Orin began to burrow. The three spirits soon burst out of the sand as their bodies stopped spinning "Wow. that's dizzying." Ori said, trying to maintain his balance "Agreed, even more dizzying than those gears in the Wellspring's mill." Sein agreed, also trying to maintain her balance.
After the three spirits recovered, they continued to head to Windtorn ruin. Ori could feel the sand in his fur as he walked "Great. There's sand in my fur." he said irritated, as he began to brush the sand out of his fur "It can't be that bad." Orin replied before he, himself felt the sand in his fur "Ok, maybe it is." Orin added as he did the same thing as Ori.
Around two hours have passed as the four were getting closer to Windtorn ruin. The four came across a spirit well "A spirit well all the way out here?" Sein spoke confused "It must be from back when this place was known as Gerora, the home of the gorlek." Orin replied to Sein "Oh yeah. The gorlek use to reside here before Seir shattered!" Ori said in realisation "That is correct. Use the well if you need to. We are almost there." Seir told the three.
The three used the spirit well and continued northeast.
It wasn't too long before the four came to a gigantic door with four slots above it "Windtorn ruin! We've made it!" Seir spoke joyfully "But how do we open it?" Ori asked. It was then that Seir floated up to the four slots as she split into the four wisps that they had acquired throughout their journey: The Voice of the forest. The Eyes of the forest. The Strength of the forest. And the Memory of the forest.
The gigantic door began to open as it moved to the side. "Ok. Let's hope the Heart of the forest is in here." Sein spoke with hope as the other three hoped it was as well.
The four then entered Windtorn ruin in hopes of finding The Heart of the forest.
