The three spirits and floating golden light went through the entrance of the path that led to the Spirit willow and saw decay everywhere. there was a mysterious liquid that was light magenta in colour surrounding the entrance with blobs jumping from the liquid. "Oh my... The decay has reached the Willow's heart. We must destroy the eight corrupted hearts if we wish to proceed and grant Kwolok's wish to give Niwen a second chance." Seir stated "Understood. What do the corrupted hearts look like?" Orin asked. "They are big and they're yellow in colour; they seem to be one of the reasons for this magenta-coloured liquid." Seir explained as Ori looked at the liquid.
Ori carefully approached the liquid "Ori what are you doing?" Sein asked "Analysing." Ori replied as he picked up a small pebble and tossed it into the liquid and watched as it disintegrated into nothing instantly. Ori stepped away in shock "It disintegrated imminently... We must be careful not to fall into it." Ori warned the other two spirits causing them to nod in understanding.
The three spirits soon saw some floating bits of the ground they stood on "If we're careful, we could use those floating bits of ground to get over the liquid." Sein planned "Don't forget, though. It's dangerous." Orin interjected "It may be dangerous, but it's the only thing we can do at the moment." Ori said to Orin making him sigh.
They soon began to use the bits of ground above the lava-like liquid and saw a portal as well as an orange root leading up to a big rock "A portal and a root?" Orin questioned "That root leads to one of the corrupted hearts." Ori spoke suddenly, catching the other three's attention.
The three turned to Ori "How can you tell?" Sein asked "There's decay emanating from the root. Can't you feel it?" Ori asked Sein. Sein focused and soon felt the decay from the root "I can now... The decay here is strong." Sein answered Ori.
Orin was still looking at the portal, thinking at where it would lead and Ori, Sein and Seir saw this "Thinking where the portal goes?" Ori asked. "Yeah. It might lead to the corrupted heart that root is attached to." Orin replied "Well, one way to find out." Ori replied and without thinking; he used launch and shot into the portal, which the two spirits and floating light watched.
As minutes pass, there no response from Ori after going through the portal and Sein became increasingly worried "The last time I didn't hear from Ori, was back in Nibel, back in the Ginso tree when he was killed by the thorns before appearing from a blue flame." Sein said worriedly. "Do not worry, sis. He is still alive. I can sense his light." Seir replied while she floated closer to Sein, allowing Sein to hold her sister for comfort.
Ori was leaping from one spinning wheel to another while trying not to get disintegrated by lasers shooting the same light magenta-coloured, lava-like liquid and using launch to shoot through portals "I should've thought before I launched through that portal." he thought as he dodged and weaved. Ori soon came to a big, yellow blob and instantly knew what it was "The corrupted heart! I found it!" he said before summoning his spirit edge with the gold flames burning the blob of decay as he slashed it.
The corrupted heart was destroyed as the root connecting it to whatever it led to crumbled as the sound of it grew distant "That's one. Seven more to go." Ori said before the rock it was on fell from its place and landed in between the floating bits of ground that both Orin and Sein were on. But it didn't disintegrate as it was too big.
Both Orin and Sein looked at the rock that suddenly fell "Why did that fall? What caused it to fall?" Orin asked before he looked up and saw Ori "I should've guessed." Orin spoke again as Ori jumped down onto the rock.
Sein looked at Ori and imminently ran to him and tackle hugged him to the rocky ground "I was so worried about you!!" she cried with visible worry "it's ok. I'm fine, see." Ori softly spoke, trying to ease Sein with her worries.
Minutes pass as Sein began to calm herself with the help of Ori "There you go." Ori softly spoke again before he kissed Sein on the cheek and both spirits got back on their hooves "I feel much better now. Thank you, Ori." Sein thanked him "Anything to help." he replied.
Seir and Orin approached the two spirit lovers "That was one of eight. Seven more to go." Seir informed the three spirits "yeah. We need to move if we want to clear the decay from the Willow's heart." Ori replied. "Then let's move." Orin said, with the others agreeing.
*2 hours later*
The four have destroyed the rest of the corrupted hearts while dodging the lava-like liquid and using portals. They came across the path out, free from the decay "The path is clear! Quick the Willow awaits us!" Seir told the three spirits "Let us go to the Willow then." Sein replied with Ori and Orin agreeing with a nod and the three spirits and floating light trekked the path.
They emerged from the heart of the Willow and saw a spirit well "A spirit well. We should use it in case something bad happens." Ori told the other two spirits. "Ori's right. Every time we found a wisp, something bad would always happen. It could happen again." Seir agreed with Ori and so the three spirits used the well and continued to the Spirit willow using launch to reach the Willow.
They soon reached the Willow "I never expected to be back in front of the great Spirit willow herself ever again." Orin spoke "Same here, Orin." Ori replied as Seir flew up onto the mantle of the great Willow, temporarily reviving her.
It was then that wispy blue leaves showed on the Willows branches "Wow..." Was the only word that left the three spirits mouths.
Soon the Spirit willow began to speak "Brave children and light... You three have healed what is broken. Seir is now reborn. See their memories gather to my branches. How the spirits have longed for this day. If only I could carry this light once more... but it is no longer mine to hold. My time has come and gone. A new age must begin. My children.... I give the light to you two. Though to bear it, one of you must grow. One life you must leave behind to save the lives of all. Join now with Seir. Embrace the light. Care for this land as I once did." the Willow told the three before Seir left the late Willow. "Well Orin. Are you ready?" Seir asked.
Orin nodded "Absolutely. I will take care of this land. For Niwen. For Kwolok. For Lora." Orin's voice broke briefly as he said her name with shimmering tears welling up in his eyes.
Seir began to float towards Orin as he reached out before Shriek swooped in and grabbed Seir in her talon "SEIR!!" Orin screamed out as the three watched in horror as Shriek crushed Seir and dropped her, letting Seir fall. Both Ori and Sein had flashbacks to when Kuro attacked the Spirit tree in Nibel and how she crushed Sein and dropped her into Sunken glades.
Ori felt multiple emotions, but one stood out to him: Anger, he felt it rise each second. "Things didn't have to come to this, Shriek. There's still a chance to let us help you." Ori spoke calmly. While Ori was trying to reach out to the stone-covered owl, Sein felt Ori's spiritual power steadily rise "This strength again..." she thought.
Shriek soon lifted a stone-covered wing and stomped where Ori was standing, causing dust to rise around the impact site.
Both Sein and Orin were distraught "ORI!!" they both called out only to hear him speak a few minutes later "Well, I tried reasoning. We'll be forced to fight then." Ori said as he charged his spirit flame and released the blast at full strength causing Shriek to fly into the air by the sudden explosion of golden light.
Ori quickly returned to Sein and Orin unharmed. "Wemust prepare for the fight for the future of Niwen." Ori told the two spiritsas the three prepared for the fight ahead.
