Chapter 23 - Li the lover

Makoto sat across from me whilst Isei talked.

"We drove up the road where you all said you were and saw a group of people. As we got closer we noticed that the group was you guys."

"One of them was on the floor and we saw it was you, Kimi-chan," added Azalea.

"Yeah." Isei continued, "apparently you fell." He looked to the ground and muttered, "again."

"Yeah!" exclaimed Takeo, bouncing up on his seat. "You tripped on a loose branch and hit your head pretty hard!"

I blushed, clumsy me.

"I thought you were okay but Takeo was convinced that you were dead," stated Li, sitting smugly as if the fact that I was alive was due to him.

"We were really worried," Makoto said, "you must be pretty lucky."

"Or unlucky for falling at all," I laughed awkwardly. "I'm sorry guys, I don't-."

"Don't be sorry," said Yaito. "It could have happened to any of us."

I self-consciously touched the bruise on my head and shrugged.

"I'm glad you're okay," smiled Azalea. The other guys agreed whilst Isei stayed silent.

"I'll go get cake!" shouted Takeo, clearly grateful that this discussion had ended. He ran out of the room into the kitchen and I could hear the clang of metal on metal.

Humming a tune, I walked out of my ensuite and stared at the boy on my bed. Pulling up the thin towel covering me, I shouted,

"Get out!" and kicked Li's leg which was dangling over the side.

"Hey! That hurt, bully," he cried, jumping up and standing to face me. "You can't kick me out of here, I was going to ask something." I narrowed my eyes at the blue-haired flirt standing in front of me.

"And what would that be?"

"I need advice. How do I get a girl's attention?"

I burst out laughing and fell to the floor, covering my face. This boy in front of me, possibly the biggest player in Japan, was asking me for relationship advice. Me. The girl who had had about two boyfriends; both of which ended in her getting dumped. I kept laughing. This was clearly a joke and I would respond to it accordingly.

"What?" he whined, pouting. "I just want some help from someone I can trust."

I calmed myself enough to drag myself to my feet and look at him square-on.

"I will not give help, because by definition, I am unhelpful." He frowned.

"Please?"

"No."

"Pretty please?"

"No."

"Pretty pretty please?"

"Still no."

"Pretty pretty please with a cherry on top?"

I glared at him.

"If it means you'll leave me alone, fine, but let me get changed first."

"Okay!" he grinned and I sighed, going back into the bathroom with some clothes.

"Oh... You're still here?" I asked, surprised to see that Li was still sitting on my bed after I had wasted time in the bathroom doing nothing.

"Yup," he beamed.

"Fine," I sighed loudly and sat down next to him. "You want a girl's attention?" He nodded with an award-winning smile. "Well... be courteous." He raised an eyebrow and I rolled my eyes. "Open doors for her, ask her how her day went, buy her little snacks. I don't know."

"Easy," he said triumphantly.

"That's not all," I stated, shaking my head. "You need to compliment her and actually mean it. Don't just compliment her as a whole, pick something out like her eyes or her cute nose or whatever you like about her. And brush against her so she knows you don't mind physical contact." I nudged him. "I know you don't," and winked.

"Okay, thanks," he said sincerely, nodding. "That helped more than I thought it would, actually." He stood up and held out his hand, pulling me up to stand as well when I took ahold of it. "I'll see you soon, thanks again," he said, waving with a grin as he opened the door and left.

What have I gotten myself into? I sure as hell hope he doesn't ask for more advice. I don't think I can make up much more, I thought nervously.
