The Iron Giant

Chapter 2

Emma POV

We went around the rock up to the electrical power building. We looked at the place in confusion as we heard something move behind us as a powerful footstep thumped onto the ground causing us to become unsteady for a bit. We turn around seeing a huge creature stomping its way over to us getting closer. I quickly grab Hogarth's hand pulling him. We start running as we then trip onto the ground as we cover ourselves. But the giant foot misses us by a few inches. We look up seeing Hogarth's bb-gun destroyed. But we see the giant destroying the gated wires and go up to the electrical building. We watch as it grabs a piece of metal of the construction ripping it out and starts to eat it in a few bites. Hogarth and I watch in fright and amazement as the giant reaches right where the electricity is stored as it grabs, creating a huge electrical current to rush through its body. It also created some spark as Hogarth covers us both from the sparks. The giant is thrown off as it lands in the electrical wire line that runs across the town giving it electricity. We watch as the giant gets electrocuted even more as it gets trapped in the wires as it yells in pain from getting electrocuted. Hogarth is on top of me keeping the electrical sparks from hitting us. The giant rips the wires from the stands a bit. Hogarth gets off from me as we look at the giant and then the main power source seeing that the metal stands that support the structure pops off coming down right at us. We scream as Hogarth pulls me as we avoid the first one from squishing us as I then pull him the other way from the second one that almost falls on top of us. Hogarth was faster as he held my hand, almost dragging me away from the site.

We jumped over a fallen tree as I looked behind me still hearing the pain from the metal giant. I stopped us as Hogarth looked at me seeing that I was looking back. "Emma, let's go!" I looked at him, "He's hurting Hogarth... I can't". I started running back as I stopped looking at the metal giant behind the trees seeing him falling onto his knees screaming in pain. I then feel Hogarth run next to me as he says, "Emma! You really can't stop feeling sorry for things, can you?" I shake my head, "Sorry..." "Nah, I like you that way, much better." I blush but I look back at the metal giant as I then say, "There has to be an off switch over there." "What? What are you going to..." Before he could say anything, I started running back to the power source as I went under the metal stand. I look around seeing the switch as I go to it as I start pulling it down as much as I can. I start to use my legs to help as I hear Hogarth running over to me, "Emma, you need to stop running off without me!" "Help me Hogarth!" I feel him grab onto me pulling. We both start pulling as much as we can as we grunt. The switch finally moved as we turned it off. We fell back as we let go of the handle as Hogarth kept his hold on me as we fell back onto the ground. We watched as the power source shut down and the metal giant eyes lost light as it stayed still then falling backwards onto the ground making a big thump. We looked at each other not knowing what to do. But then Hogarth takes my hand as we slowly walk up to the giant and up a fallen tree. We make it up to its head seeing that it was powered off. We then jumped behind the tree as we bent down looking at it.

I watch as Hogarth grabs a rock and lightly tosses it at the giant. It hits his face making a clunk sound as we both duck to see if it would wake up and move. But nothing happened. We looked at each other as I then got an idea standing up as Hogarth watched me curiously as I climbed over a tree and grabbed another rock. He quickly followed me as we climbed up the giant's face as we stood right above its mouth as we peered down inside of it seeing nothing but darkness. I then looked at the rock that I grabbed and loomed it over its mouth dropping it inside. We watch as it falls into the darkness and begins making clunking noises indicating that it was still falling until we heard nothing. We watched in amazement not noticing that the giant was waking up until we started seeing it getting brighter suddenly. We turn around seeing that it was the giant waking up as we both yell in fright. Hogarth quickly grabs my hand pulling me down with him as we run down the fallen tree onto the ground as the giant starts standing up. We run onto the dirt path hand in hand as we hear the giant following us from behind. We continue to run as we see some car lights making us a bit relieved as Hogarth waves them down as we get in front of the car to make sure it doesn't pass us, "Help! Help! Stop! Help!" I then turn around seeing that the giant was gone as I pull on Hogarth sweater making me look at him as I say, "It's gone..."
