Just as Mike expected, they didn't tell him, yet again, when Will was feeling better. Although this time, Mike could tell it was on purpose, in case he hurt Will again.
It's not like he had purposely hurt Will. It was in the heat of the moment and he had forgotten that Will's shoulder was in pain for a couple of seconds. Of course, he still feels guilty for hurting Will like that.
It's a good thing that he's going to see Will today. Apparently, he has been out of the tent and has been talking to the other villagers, which surprises Mike. He hasn't seen him outside the tent, but that might be because the others are trying to prevent them from seeing each other.
Mike doesn't really think that's fair, because they have no idea what happened in the tent. Then again, their reactions seem justified.
Nancy is brushing his hair out, basically pulling it. He holds his head as she hums a song and grabs a hair tie, putting it on her wrist, and getting prepared to put his hair up.
She brushes again, making Mike let out a small noise of pain. "Nancy! Are you almost done? You're pulling out all my hair!"
She rolls her eyes. "Calm down, Mike. Maybe if your hair wasn't this tangled, it wouldn't hurt. Figure out how to keep your hair maintained." She says as she starts to tie Mike's hair back.
Mike hisses in pain as she pulls harder, trying to get all of his hair. She ties the hair tie a couple of times before clapping her hands. "Done! You can go see your lover now." She smiles as Mike gets up, trying to loosen his hair tie a little.
"Good. I can't wait to see him." Mike says, walking toward the door.
"Wait!" Nancy calls after him. "Be careful, okay? Don't hurt him." She says.
Mike doesn't say anything and walks out. Everyone is making him feel more guilty. He knows he deserves it, but it hurts so badly. All he could think about was WIll for the past couple of days. Not being able to see your lover for that amount of time is really hard.
Eddie walks over to him and puts his arm over Mike's shoulder. "Are you ready Wheeler? To see Byers?" He asks, smirking. Mike nods and smiles. Over the couple of days that he and Will had been here, he had become good friends with Eddie. He was sure Lucas and Dustin would love Eddie as well.
He misses those two.
Eddie nods, "Great. Jonathan told me he's by the water fountain so we better catch him before he leaves." He says and lets go of Mike, leading the way to the fountain. Mike follows Eddie with a big smile on his face. He can't wait to see Will and finally apologize for hurting him badly.
They walk for a little bit before Mike finally sees the water fountain. He sees a lot of people walking around but he can see Will at the water fountain, touching the water and smiling. The only problem is that he's not alone.
He's with someone. A boy.
He's laughing with him, smiling at him, playing with the water with him. Mike isn't jealous, no, he would never be jealous, but he can't help but feel as if Will is being too friendly with this boy.
As he and Eddie walk closer, he gets a clearer view of who Will is talking to, and it's none other than Jason.
Mike's eyes widen as Eddie stops, making him stop too.
"Is he with Jason?" Mike asks Eddie. Eddie shrugs, "I guess so. They have been getting closer over the past couple of days. At least that's what Chrissy told me."
Mike feels his blood boil as he watches Will laugh at a stupid joke Jason made. Even though he can't hear what Jason said, he knows it was stupid.
He's not jealous. He's not. He's happy Will made a friend out of Jason, despite what an asshole he can be, he's super happy for Will. Will deserves a friend beside the people at the castle and Mike, he really does.
Despite knowing that, Mike can't stop himself from angrily walking over there, his stomach filled with pure hatred for Jason. He's not jealous. He knows he's not.
"Will!" He yells making Will stop laughing and look at Mike. Mike feels confident again when Will smiles and jumps into Mike's arms. He flips Jason off without Will seeing as Will pulls away from Mike.
"Mike! I missed you so much! Can we please not argue anymore?" Will asks and Mike nods, pecking Will's lips. He opens his eyes to see Jason staring at them.
Mike smirks as Will pulls away again. "Jason! Shouldn't you be with your girlfriend, Chrissy?" He teases. Jason shrugs, "I was just talking to Will before you interrupted us."
Will chuckles nervously. "Oh no, it's okay Mike. You didn't really interrupt anything. Jason was just telling me about his girlfriend!" Will smiles, grabbing onto Mike's arm.
Mike clicks his tongue. "Uh-huh." He rolls his eyes. "Aren't you too old to be talking to minors that way, Jason? Will's sixteen, you're twenty. A little creepy if you ask me."
"Please." Jason laughs.
Will gasps, "Mike! It isn't anything like that! Jason is just a friend." Will defends him.
Mike feels that pure hatred back in his stomach. Will was defending Jason instead of him. Why? Why would he do that? Mike was obviously in the right here, not Jason.
"Maybe we should go, Will." Jason says.
"But―"
"Yeah, maybe you should! Since you prefer Jason over me, right Will?"
Will averts his eyes at the ground. "Mike, it really isn't like that. Why are you so jealous all of a sudden?"
Mike scoffs, "I'm not jealous! Especially not of him! You're the one who is laughing at all his jokes, smiling around him, defending him instead of me! Did you really move on that quickly?"
"Mike, no! I'm not into Jason! Why don't you just listen to me? Why are we arguing so much?"
"Because maybe we don't work together! Maybe we shouldn't be a thing. In times like this, I wish I had really―" He stops himself.
Will looks at him in surprise. "'Wish you had really' what Mike? Wish you had actually killed me? Is that what you were gonna say?"
"No! No, of course not Will!"
"Just, stop lying, Mike. Maybe we need a little break from each other for today. When you feel better tomorrow, talk to me." He says, turning away.
Jason smirks and flips Mike off, grabbing Will's hand. "Come on Will, let's go somewhere else." He says, dragging Will away.
Mike watches them walk away as Eddie walks over to him. "What happened?" He asks.
Mike doesn't answer him as he slams his hands down onto the water fountain.
Why were he and Will arguing so much all of a sudden?
