Mike goes on with his day, thinking of Will, and wondering why their relationship is failing. Of course, he gets no answers and as the next day comes around, he decides to talk to Will.
He knows he's most likely at Chrissy and Jason's place, making his blood boil ever so slightly, but he knows Will wouldn't cheat on him, especially not with Jason. Relationships are built on trust, so he knows he should trust Will before he pushes him away.
He knocks on the door hesitantly, hoping that Will's not the one who answers. It would make him even more nervous.
The door opens, and Chrissy comes into view. She smiles brightly and motions for him to walk inside. He walks in slowly and closes the door behind him. She walks into the kitchen and returns to him with a plate of cookies, reminding him of his mother. "Hi, Mike! I'm sorry, I wasn't aware you were coming. Have some cookies." She offers, shoving the plate into Mike's face.
Mike takes one and bites into it, "Thank you." He says with his mouth full of cookies. "Is Will here?" He asks.
She nods and puts the plate down. "Yes, he was talking all about you yesterday. It was very lovely." She pauses so she can open the fridge and get the milk. "He's in our room if you need him. He's with Jason." She says as she grabs a glass and pours milk into it, handing it to Mike.
Mike gladly takes the cup of milk and drinks almost all of it. He puts the glass on the table and thanks her, walking to find the bedroom.
Their house looks nice, Mike admits. It's filled with pictures of them, even when they were younger, so Mike assumes they knew each other since high school. Mike feels bad for Chrissy, having to deal with Jason for the rest of her life.
He stops at a door, hearing the sound of Will's voice. He smiles at the sound and grabs the door knob, opening the door slowly, although no one notices.
He peeks inside, watching as Jason unwraps Will's bangades on his shoulder. Mike gags silently at the sight of his shoulder. It's bad. Mike hadn't seen the wound himself, but now that he was, it was worse than he imagined. He feels a little guilty as Will hisses in pain as the bandage is removed.
The bandage is covered in blood, and some of the blood starts to drip down Will's back.
Jason cleans it as he puts a clean bandage on Will, wrapping it tightly.
"So, tell me about you and Mike." Jason says as he finishes wrapping the shoulder. Will shrugs with a sigh. "I don't know. I love him, I really do, but we've been getting into so many fights, and I feel like they've all been my fault.
"Maybe they have been. Have you talked to him about it?"
"No. I mean we talked about the fight in the cave, and I apologized, but still, I feel like that's not enough for what I said to him. I feel like such a bad person. I'm reminding myself of my father, and I know he told me not to say that anymore, but I just can't help it."
Jason hums, "Maybe you two don't belong together." Will gasps and turns toward him in surprise, but Jason just shrugs. "I mean, by what you've been telling me, it sounds like you two don't really love each other, you just like the idea of it."
Will shakes his head desperately. "No! That's not true! I know I love Mike! I haven't felt like this for anyone else."
"Didn't you mention that you were never allowed out of the castle? Meaning you didn't get to meet anyone? Mike was the first boy you truly made friends with. It is very possible that you just wanted to feel love so you chose the first person who made you feel like you were something other than royalty."
Will averts his eyes to the ground.
Jason grabs his shoulders gently. "Maybe you should end things with him."
"But.."
"Or, if you really do believe that you love him and he loves you back, there may actually be a way to make him forgive you. Something that makes every teenage boy forgive their lover. Although, it probably won't be easy for you."
"What do you mean? If it makes him forgive me, I'll do it!"
"You know exactly what I mean," Jason says as he lets go of Will's shoulders. "You have to―"
Mike leans back, dropping something from the shelf next to him. It makes a loud crash, but it doesn't break. Mike mumbles a curse and puts it back on the shelf.
"What was that?" He hears Will say.
"I don't know. Maybe your brother is here for you already. You know how he is, always clinging to you and so possessive. You might want to talk to him about that."
Mike doesn't wanna listen anymore, running into the kitchen. Chrissy looks at him, confused. "Mike, what is wrong? Did you talk to Will already?"
"Yeah, I did. Thanks, Chrissy." He says, grabbing a cookie and leaving the house quickly. As soon as he's outside, he drops the cookie and bends down to puke, but nothing comes out.
He really wants to know what Jason was gonna tell Will to do. Either way, Jason's idea was probably a bad one. He wants to run back inside and get Will, but he knows that Will most likely doesn't wanna talk to him right now, which was justified.
He couldn't believe what Jason was saying. 'it sounds like you two don't really love each other, you just like the idea of it'. That's just not true. Mike knows that he loves Will. Mike has spent a lot of time with many girls and boys, but none of them have made Mike feel what he feels about Will. Jason had no reason to tell Will otherwise, he has no idea what they'd been through together.
The first meeting, going into town, falling in love, the first kiss, the lake, the marriage, the cave.
Jason had no idea how much they truly loved each other.
Just at those thoughts, the memories of him and Will, make Mike finally puke.
