- The next morning -
I was walking along the beach, bored, and secretly trying to avoid Loak. The glances he was giving me and Aonung last night was unnerving. I thought I'd make use of myself by helping repair the burnt maruis. I slowly walk towards a small group of Na'vi when I recognize someone, Loak. Feeling instant regret, I turn around and head off to a different group, trying to sneak away. But I fail.
"Hey, Y/n! We need to talk" Loak says sternly, walking up to me.
"What about?" I ask innocently.
"I think you know, the little thing you and Aonung have going on.. You two were literally dancing together last night!" Loak scoffs.
"Neither of us wanted to end up without a partner ok.. It's not what it looked like" I try and convince my brother, but he doesn't fall for it.
"Ok, then where did you guys go after? I saw you two heading off alone" Loak reminds me.
I look at him with uncertainty,
"We- um.." I stutter, no words were coming to mind. I couldn't think up a lie quick enough to persuade Loak.
"I knew it, he's such a piece of shit. Stay here Y/N" Loak demands.
"Where are you going?" I ask, grabbing Loak's arm in attempt to stop him from leaving.
He shakes his arm away, ignoring me and continuing off in another direction.
"Loak! Answer me!" I beg.
He turns around to face me, "I need to talk to him, without you" He stares at me with anger, than heads off again.
I let him walk away a little further before quietly following behind him. Loak sees Aonung and rushes after him, once he is close enough, he grabs him by the shoulder and turns him around. Aonung faces Loak in confusion, only realizing whats happening when seeing me not far behind.
"What have you done with my sister?" Loak commands.
Aonung throws his hands up in defense, "Woah, I have no idea what you're talking about".
"Yeah right, where did you two go last night. I saw you guys leave," Loak states.
"Chill out, We decided to sneak out because we didn't want to dance together. After that we went our separate ways," Aonung says, his lie comes out smoothly.
"I don't believe that for a second, I better not see you two together again," Loak threatens.
"Deal" Aonung gives up. I could tell he wanted to fight back but we decided to keep it a secret. So he had to hold back.
Loak grunts before storming off, a little surprised as he sees me directly behind him. He knew I was there the whole time, and reminded me that he had an eye on us. I didn't know Loak hated Aonung that much..
"What's his deal?" Aonung rolls his eyes.
"He's not dumb.. If we don't want to get killed by my family, we gotta be smarter about this" I say.
"I can do that, how about we meet up tonight. When everyone is asleep. Meet me our secret spot?" Aonung grins, the way he said our spot made me giddy.
"It's a date" I smile, running off before our chat gets too long, too noticeable.
- Later that day -
I had finished eating when I decided to ride my Ilu for a while, to kill time. I click my tongue and we head off, I take a deep breath before heading under water. We glide through the water gracefully, a smile glued to my face. The water life had always interested me since I arrived, and I was determined to explore more of it.
I ride further away than I ever have, alone. I didn't think of it as dangerous since It was fairly close to the island. Confident in my swimming ability, I make my way deeper. The fish were bigger and brighter than I had ever seen, but what caught my eye was what looked like a sunken boat.
As I approach it I latch on a Gil Mantle and begin to take steady breaths of air. Pushing off of my Ilu, but making sure she stays near by, I swim closer to the mystery ship. A gasp escapes my mouth as I recognize what I'm looking at. It was the boat Payakan had crashed, or the remains.
I pull myself inside and explore, curiosity taking over. I wasn't looking for anything specific, but I wanted to come back with something to show my family. Nothing gained my attention, the whole boat seemed empty, even though it was practically cracked in half there was not a thing in sight. I glanced outside of the boat, still nothing. It was almost like someone had been here..
A feeling of fear washes over me, were the humans here?
I try to ignore it, telling myself other Na'vi probably found it before me.
I head out, looking around for my Ilu when I see a pair of legs at the surface in the distance. I swim up and peek above the water, making sure I wasn't visible. My eyes widened, Aonung? He was treading water uncomfortably close with another Na'vi, a girl Na'vi...
I could hear them laughing together, my mouth drops in shock as she throws her hand on his shoulder. Anger filled my body, what is going on?
I couldn't decide if I wanted to stay, to torture myself, or see if anything more happens. I was too intrigued to leave and not know the end of this. I hadn't seen this girl before, and Aonung hasn't mentioned her before.. Unless it was the female he mentioned at the dance? The one who was interested in him.. I couldn't be sure.
I watch steadily, she had moved her hand from his shoulder to his chest. Jealousy overwhelmed me, but I couldn't intervene. Aonung didn't seem to be giving into her body signals but he wasn't pushing her off either.. And I'm supposed to meet up with him at 'our secret spot' later today.
Trusting him was getting harder by the day, and his chances with me were getting slimmer. I decided I had enough, ditching the scene, I headed back to the village and resumed my aid with the maruis.
The image of Aonung and that girl stuck in my mind. After the moments we shared together, and the secret we share,
Should I meet up with him tonight?
