Chishiya stood in front of me, standing toward the middle of the room, out of breath. My chest heaved up and down, trying to catch my breath as well. His soft eyes kept my cold blank glare, not sharing a word with each other. I waited. I didn't want to be the first one to break the silence.
The seconds felt like minutes. I couldn't take it, his soft gaze contradicting whatever he said to Kuina. I scoffed and turned around, headed for the hotel room exit behind me. My hand grabbed the door knob and I pushed it down, slightly opening the door; however, it slammed back shut. A hand was placed onto the door, fingers splayed out, the arm being covered with a white sleeve. A warm breath spread across the back of my neck.
My eyes widened, fearing to turn around. He whispered, "Wait."
I froze. My muscles tensed and my breath stayed within my chest. My heartbeat rang out, shaking my head. His hand... the distance of his arm. He's so close to me. Another breath reached the back of my neck, making my hairs stand up and goosebumps form. He's so... close to me. Why? After everything he said about me, why is he here? Why did he save me even though he thinks I am lower than he is? I don't get it.
Footsteps outside the hallway echoed, and more gunshots rang. Screams were let out as the sound of bullets hammered through skin. Thuds ringing across along with cheers and laughs. Only a few footsteps remain, they slowly passed by the room, then they disappeared around the corner. A few seconds of silence finally came.
The hand in front of me was removed off of the door and Chishiya took a step back. I turn around, my back facing the door now. He put his hands in his pockets and his head was held up high, "You could've been killed."
I glance at him, nose scrunching in disgust and eyebrows furrow in confusion. Why would he be concerned with me? Everything is not making sense. I couldn't take his eyes on mine. I rolled my eyes, avoiding eye contact then turned back to the door. My hand is on the cold silver metal once more.
"Y/N," Chishiya's raspy voice stopped me, "You're not talking to me. What's wrong?"
My hand hovers over door knob. What's wrong? A flame in my chest allows me to look at him, even though my heart tells me to run away. What's wrong? Words lodged in my throat, begging to come out. I want to tell him that he has hurt me but made me feel safe by just being close to me. His eyes are filled with confusion, hurt. I suppress what my heart is telling me, letting my head take over my emotions. The flame in my chest slightly goes out, that feeling of relaxation and comfort washed over it. I let my gaze soften for a second then I straighten up... Stay strong.
"Nothing's wrong," I nearly choked on my words, "Thanks for saving me. I'll see you."
"Y/N," He repeats my name, "What's wrong? I'm not the witch if that's what you're worried about-"
"It's not that," I gritted my teeth, my back facing him now. I gulped and pulled back my shoulders. I look over my shoulder slightly, seeing his shadow towering me. My voice lowered, "What did I do? Did I do something wrong?"
He stayed silent.
I wanted a response, "Did I do something... to deserve all the lies you and Kuina told me?"
He stayed silent.
That flame in my chest roars, the words in my throat continue to build up. The pressure in my head and heart, continued to increase and increase. The sting of pain in my nose, my knees locked into place. Smoke covered my lungs... the flame grew larger than I expected.
"I didn't fall down the stairs, trying to get to you," My words fall out of my mouth. My heart overtakes my head. The flame's smoke covered my eyes, "Kuina was forced to hurt me... Arisu was a sacrifice to you... Usagi means nothing to you..."
