Calem's POV:

As I said, we didn't meet Ash until a couple of days later. He had met Gary the day he moved in. But before Gary met up with him again, we were all at school. We were already a group of kids, even before we met Ash. Serena liked calling our group-

"The Group Since YesterYear."

JANUARY 23rd, XERNEAS MIDDLE SCHOOL

Calem's POV:

I hate waking up for school. Why do we have to wake up so damn early to go to a damn building that doesn't even teach us shit? Eh, it's whatever though. The best part of school was just hanging out with my friends, including my closest one. Serena Yvonne. We've been best friends for as long as I can remember, we were the first people to understand each other and we grew a connection. Over time, we grew our friend group to almost a whole gang. It's funny really. But, me and her were at our usual lunch table, waiting for the rest of our friend group.

"Dude, you need to start putting on 10 different alarms. I don't want to be the one slapping you awake." I scolded her, taking a drink of my chocolate milk.

"Yeah, yeah whatever. I need my beauty sleep, Camel." She ignored my concern, waving me off.

"It's true, you need to put 10 alarms to wake up!" I countered once again, annoyed that I just got called the nickname I hate. "-Also, stop calling me that!" I yelled annoyed, taking a sip out of my chocolate milk once again.

"No, it's funny seeing you react like that." She giggled, messing with her hair. "Anyways, do you have your math homework? If you keep forgetting about them, you're not going to pass his class." She asked, concerned over my 'forgetfulness'

"Yeah, why?" I answered, taking off my bag to look for my math homework.

"Because Mr. Ramos has been on your ass for weeks because you don't turn in your math homework." She explained, glaring at me. "On top of that, I have to see if you even did it correctly." She continued, reaching her hand out.

I rolled my eyes and gave her my math homework. Serena is what we like to call 'Ms. Perfect.' She always strives for perfection, and that makes me annoyed. Everything always has to be an A+, or a perfect 100. She's been like that since Elementary School and honestly, I wish she can be calmer about it. Before I can ask for my homework back, I heard two familiar voices from behind me.

"You didn't make it in the top students list? I'm surprised." Gary said, looking at the girl next to him. This girl always wore the same white beanie, with her blue hair long enough to hang out of it. However, they were always clipped with yellow pins.

"Yeah, I'm shocked too. I got beat out by Trevor." The girl sighed, fixing her beanie.

"Damn, can't believe you got beat out like that Dawn," Gary remarked, getting met with a couple of smacks by Dawn.

"Shut it!" Dawn said in frustration, hitting Gary's arm. All Gary did was laugh, I guess he didn't feel her hits.

"Yo!" I shouted, catching their attention. The both of them ran quickly to our table with a surprised expressions on their face. I had no idea why they were so surprised, wait I think I can take a guess-

"You two are actually here earlier than us?" Gary asked, chuckling as he did.

"Yeah, I decided to wake up a couple of minutes early just so I can wake this bitch up," I replied, motioning to Serena.

"Well, at least I can wake up late and still get the best grade in the school." She countered, giving me my math homework back. "You have a few answers wrong in the homework." She added, looking at me.
