A day for exploring - 2

Spider's Pov  ʚ ɞ

Spider stood behind Lo'ak and Kiri, they were bent over the test file. Charlotte was deep in thought, reading the dates and records, most likely piecing things together and gathering that Jake had lived here, some time ago.

"Maybe we should go back and ask Dad..?" Kiri asked nervously, breaking the Silence.

"Your probably right." Charlotte replied. 

Lo'ak and Spider stayed quiet, not knowing what to say or do. They all turned to the door, Spider saw in the corner of his eye Charlotte stuff a few paper files into her side satchel.  He decided to ignore it and headed out the door.

Charlotte's pov ☁︎

Charlotte noticed Spider had been acting quiet all afternoon,  she wanted to ask him about it, maybe after Lo'ak and Kiri were gone. They walked back to the lab in almost, barley exchanging 2 words. She kept catching Spider looking at her, tracing her side profile as she walked. A few times she tried to catch his eyes, but he every time he quickly looked away. 

Finally reaching the lab, Spider and Charlotte pulled off their masks and Kiri and Lo'ak took theirs out. 

"Should we ask dad about the trailer?" Lo'ak asked, breaking the loud silence.

Charlotte hesitated, then said "No - lets go back tomorrow and see if we can find more information."  

He nodded and beckoned to Kiri that they should get going. Charlotte watched them leave, then turned to Spider, finally catching his eyes.

"Listen I-" "About earlier-" Spider and Charlotte spoke at the same time. They laughed and awkwardly shifted so they Charlotte was leaning against a counter while Spider had hopped up on a table. 

"So, what were you gonna say earlier? It seemed important," she asked, taking her turn to talk. 

"Uh, I was thinking.." he took a moment "You know we've haven't had a sleepover in a while"

Charlotte laughed, "were you really so nervous about asking me to a sleepover?" 

"No, I mean - yeah, I mean I didn't know what you would say," 

"Yes, I say yes. Sounds fun," Charlotte said, a smile spreading across her face.

Spiders shoulders relaxed "oh good."

"How 'bout your room? Tonight?" She said not thinking anything of it.

" Yeah, sure. Bring a few movies." Spider blushed, hoping off the counter.

"Yeah of course, see ya later." Charlotte walked back to her room and closed the door. She leaned against the door, sliding down till she was sitting on the floor. Her stomach was FILLED with butterflies. She was amazed with her ability to not collapse with nervousness while I was talking to Spider. 

She took a deep breath, remembering the papers she had stuffed in her bag. She pulled them out, walking to her desk and laying them out so she could get a better look at them.

Charlotte was too confused to continue, who was Tom Sully? He had the same last name as Jake, but she had never heard of him. She sighed and pushed the papers into a spare desk. She made a leap for her bed and sprawled out. The was a 99% chance she would barely sleep that night so she choose to take a nap instead of continuing her Nalutsa reading. She snuggled into her blanket and allowed her eyes to rest.
