*Ronnie's POV*

I walked into the cafeteria and was immediately almost tackled in a hug. Once I regained my balance, I realized the person hugging me was Cherry. She let go and I gave her a small smile.

"I got tired of ignoring you," she whined.

"Yeah, everyone does," I said.

"I saved you a spot at my table!" She dragged me over to the table with her friends and pushed me down on a chair. I sighed as she sat on my lap.

"Hey Ronnie," said one of her brunette friends. I gave a slight wave. "Y'all are so cute together!" I winced a bit at the country accent. She was definitely a transfer student. Cherry continued to talk with her friends and I looked around the cafeteria. I saw Calum sitting across from a girl with raven black hair. Bridget. They were talking as she put her legs up on the table. He started picking at her shoes and she laughed. Her laugh. It showed off her perfect straight white teeth, and her nose scrunched up a bit. It was adorable. Whenever she scrunched up her nose, it meant she snorted. I couldn't hear her, but I could imagine what she sounded like at the moment. She placed a hand on Calum's shoulder and it went down to his bicep. She started feeling him. What the fuck? Calum was flexing and she smiled at him. Did she break up with Tyler after Saturday night? Is she living with her mom again? Why is she feeling up Calum? Why the fuck are they becoming close?

I shook my head at the thoughts and I looked back over to them. Bridget was looking at her phone and started to stand up. She pat Calum on the head and walked away and out of the cafeteria.

I put my hands on Cherry's waist and pulled her off of me.

"Babe what are you doing?" She asked, slightly offended that I took her off my lap.

"I'm gonna go talk to Calum," I said. She looked around and once she saw Calum, she nodded.

"Alright," she approved, as if I needed it. I walked over to the table in the corner of the cafeteria where he was sitting. He was sitting alone like a loser and was very surprised when he saw me approaching him.

"Well well well, if it isn't Ronald Ashburn. What brings you hither?" He mocked.

"Hither? Bridget making you smarter too?"

"What?" I shrugged.

"Nothing. So what's up, amigo?" I asked as I sat down next to him.

"Obviously not much."

"Yeah." An awkward silence fell over us and I cleared my throat. "So you're becoming closer with Bridget, I see." He looked over at me and raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah. She's a good friend, unlike you," he said. It felt like I got kicked in the stomach.

"I deserve that."

"Hell yeah you do. I understand you having a girlfriend, but you ignoring me? We've been best friends since the third grade and this is how you treat me when another girl comes around?"

"You're always with Bridget, so I can barely approach you."

"Besides the stupid unknown reason you're ignoring Bridget, you know where I live, and you know my number, so I don't see any excuse here."

"I'm sorry, I just-" He burst out laughing and I was confused.

"You know what, whatever man. I sound like Cherry." At that, I laughed too. "Besides, I'm not the one you should be apologizing to."

"Look, I have my reasons"

"I know you must have your reasons, but they're probably stupid reasons. And we both know that Bridget is one of the best things to happen to you in a long time, Ronnie."
