*Bridget's POV*
Needless to say, my mom freaked out when I came home with gauges. Obviously they were tiny since I had just started stretching them, but they were still there. I didn't care what my mom thought. After all she slept around so she shouldn't be judging my choices.
As I flipped through my Rock Sound magazine, my phone buzzed and I checked the caller ID. Ronnie. I picked up with a "hi," and was surprised to hear a lot of people in the background.
"Bridget you need to get here, you can't miss out on this," he shouted.
"Miss what?"
"The street racing, duh!" I smiled, remembering the street races back home.
"Alright, where is it?"
"By the abandoned barn," he answered.
"I'll be there in ten," and with that I hung up. I hopped out of bed and changed into some combat boots with blue jeans, a white tube top, and my black leather jacket. I put on some eyeliner and put my hair into a high ponytail before walking out the door. Before leaving the house, I grabbed my mom's car keys. Once I was out and driving, I blasted the music until I reached the place. There were a ton of cars and shouting, but it was in the middle of nowhere so the cops hadn't shown up yet. I didn't bother looking for Ronnie, but instead looking for a spot in the races. When I got to the front of the crowd, I was met with Ronnie anyways and he greeted me with a beer.
"This shit is insane!" He shouted.
"How do you get in?" I asked him.
"Whoa, you wanna race?" I nodded and he chuckled. "First, you've gotta take that up with David, the head of the races. He owns both of the cars being raced with," he said as he pointed to some blonde guy with girls on either side of him. It looked like a scene straight out of Fast and Furious. I rolled my eyes, walking over to him.
"Well hello there, new girl," David said as I approached him.
"I wanna race," I said, getting to the point. He laughed, offending me quite a bit.
"What makes you think I'll let you race in one of my cars?"
"Because if you don't, I'll shove my foot so far up your ass, your ancestors will feel it." His face went pale and he contemplated it.
"Fine, I'll let you race, but on one condition."
"I'm not gonna sleep with you," I scoffed.
"Flattering, but I don't hook up with girls scarier than my mom. If you race, you race against Ronnie Ashburn." At this, I smirked.
"Fine. We go next." And with that, I swished my ponytail and walked away. Ronnie was still at the front of the crowd, waiting for one of the racers to make it back first. "We're racing next."
"Wait, what? I never agreed to this," he protested.
"Don't be a pussy," I said. He rolled his eyes and agreed. When one of the cars returned, apparently this guy named Calum won and Ronnie was cheering for him. When the other racer returned, David got on the hood of one of the cars and shouted.
"Next up, we have an unexpected race that I'm sure you'd all like to place bets on. We have Mountain Lakes' very own Ronnie Ashburn against the new girl, Bridget Chandler!" The crowd was screaming at this point, and I made my way inside one of the cars. Ronnie was revving the engine of the other car and I rolled my eyes. David was telling me where to go and what I would see along the way. I nodded and he went back to his seat. A girl in neon clothing was standing between the two cars, and when she gave the signal, I slammed on that gas pedal.
