*Bridget's POV*
I shut my locker door and walked away from it, heading to first period history. It was raining outside so everyone was inside rather than hanging out outside in the parking lot, which made the hallways rather crowded. Once I finished pushing my way through people in the halls, I walked into the history class and saw Ronnie in his usual seat with some blonde on his lap.
"Hey sorry I didn't show up to the party the other night, Tyler and I had other plans," I said, walking up to him. He looked at me and then acted as if he didn't see me, whispering things into the blonde's ears. She giggled and looked up at me.
"What do you want?" She snootily asked. I clutched my bag's strap, making my knuckles paper white.
"Was I talking to you?"
"You were talking to my boyfriend, and he wants nothing to do with you," she snapped back.
"Boyfriend?" I asked in disbelief. "Lowering your standards, eh Ronnie?" I chuckled and walked away. I didn't need to turn around to see her shocked face. I took a seat across the room from them rather than my usual seat next to Ronnie. The teacher walked in and everyone quickly took a seat.
"Cherry, what a pleasant surprise to see you in my class, when you're not in this period," he said, setting his briefcase down on his desk. The blonde, who I assumed was Cherry, got up and her heels clacked on the floor. She walked out of the room with Ronnie on her arm. Our history teacher didn't say anything but just sighed. I saw Calum shake his head since I was sitting next to him. I turned to face him.
"What's up with that?" I asked. He was surprised I was talking to him and shrugged.
"He's back to his old ways I guess," he said blankly.
During lunch, I sat with Calum in my usual seat, but once Ronnie saw us, he turned around and Cherry followed him, of course.
"What the fuck is his deal?" I nearly shouted.
"I saw him with her at the party. They were making out and stuff, but before that, he was waiting for you, Bridget," said Calum.
"He was?"
"Sure, he was flirting with a few girls but he was expecting you to come, and then Cherry approached him and that's the last I heard of him over the weekend. They walked in together this morning. I'm guessing he gave her a ride."
"That doesn't explain why he's avoiding me." Calum shrugged and went back to eating his meatball sub.
**********************
I snuck back out of my house with another bag of my clothes and ran into the car. It was Tyler's car and he was at work. I blasted the music and drove away towards Tyler's apartment. I couldn't see much on the road since it was raining an entire ocean basically. I stopped on the side of the road about a mile from my house and turned off the engine. The rain was showing no signs of slowing down so I just kept the music playing. I took out my phone and saw I had a missed call from a number I didn't recognize. Against my better judgement, I pressed the number and it started dialing. I put my phone against my ear and the person picked up on the third ring.
"Surprised you called back, Bri," said he voice on the other end. It was an unfamiliar voice, but I had a pretty good idea who it was.
"Who the fuck gave you my number, Brent?" I retorted.
"Mom, who else?" I stayed silent. "Anyways, when are you coming home? Mom and I agreed it was fine for you to stay with a friend for a while, but it's been almost two weeks, and that's ridiculous."
