*Ronnie's POV*
I looked out my window and saw the once plain ground now covered in snow. Fuck, do I even have school today? I walked out of my room and down the stairs to see my parents in the kitchen, casually having breakfast like they always do.
"Mom, did the school call? Is there school today? Or did they cancel it?" I asked.
"There is school today. Now go put on a shirt and some shoes before you're late," she replied. I sighed and ran back up to my room. I slipped on a random shirt and changed into jeans with my Docs. I unplugged my phone from the wall and ran down to the garage. I grabbed my leather jacket from the coatrack and keys from the cabinet and slipped into my car. Once inside my car I turned up the heater and sat inside waiting for the car to warm up. I decided to check my phone while I waited. 3 missed calls from Cherry, 1 text from Calum, 2 random snapchats, and 0 notifications from Bridget. I mentally cursed myself. God, is this how it feels like when I don't call those random girls back? I cleared all my notifications and started the engine, pulling out of the garage and making my way to school.
Once I was inside the hellhole they dare call a school, I made my way to Calum's locker.
"What's up?" He greeted as I gave him a bro hug.
"Kinda feel like ditching, don't you?" He chuckled.
"You know, believe it or not, I'd rather stay inside this warm building than go outside in that snow."
"Why the fuck didn't they cancel school today? It's gonna be a bitch to drive home in this weather."
"Speaking of which, can I come over tonight? I got a ride from someone today so I don't have my own car. Besides, my dad's out of town again and I don't feel like being alone in that house."
"Yeah, sure, of course..." I said as I searched the faces in the crowded hall.
"Looking for Bridget?"
"Yeah, why, do you know where she is?"
"She's the one that gave me a ride today. Her and Tyler, actually."
"So do you know where she- wait, what? Tyler drove you here?"
"Yeah. He's an asshole, I don't know why she's with him. He treats her like shit, too. If I had a girlfriend like Bridget, god knows I'd treasure her..." I gave Calum a condescending look before shaking my head and taking a sip from his coffee.
"I'm guessing you guys stopped to get coffee, too?"
"Yeah, Bridget seemed really tired so Tyler stopped to get some." I raise an eyebrow. "He's not that bad, but you can just tell he doesn't really show her any affection."
"Still an asshole then," I mumbled under my breath.
"If you have so much of a problem with him then just tell her."
"I have."
"And obviously it didn't work." I could feel my face go pale, but I quickly tried to hide my anxiety and scoffed.
"Whatever," I said.
******************************
I was sitting in the car, waiting for Calum to show up since he had gym last period. I sigh, turning down the heater. There was some traffic trying to get out of the school parking lot so I figured it was best to wait to leave anyways. I took my phone out of my pocket and unlocked it. I went to my contacts and scrolled down to B. Bridget. Before I even tapped her name, someone was calling me. Cherry. I rolled my eyes and tapped the green circle.
"Hello?"
"Ronnie! Finally you pick up! Why have you been avoiding me? I-" I hung up. I didn't want to deal with her anymore, but I knew I had to 'officially' end it between us. Just as I was about to dial Bridget's number, someone knocked on the window. It was Calum. I unlocked the door and he slid into his seat and threw his bookbag in the back seat.
"Let's goooo," he said. I rolled my eyes and pulled out of the parking space, waiting in the line to move onto the road. "So did you see Bridget today?"
"Nope. I'm guessing she ditched the classes she has with me."
"That blows..."
We rode in silence to my house, and when we got there, there was a guy standing by a car I didn't recognize blocking the garage. Calum sat there confused and I stepped out of the car.
"Who the hell are you?!" I shouted, from behind the open car door. The guy turned around, and I recognized him immediately. It was Bridget's brother, Brent.
"Brent Chandler, Bridget's brother. I believe you're Ronnie," he said smugly.
"And I believe you have no right to be on my property." He smirked, just like Bridget would.
"Calm down there, buddy. I just wanna know where my sister is."
"Well she's not with me."
"Oh I know that, but I figured you might have an idea where she is."
"She's probably at her boyfriend's place."
"That bartender? She could do better." I know.
"Well obviously I'm of no help so if you could leave, please."
"Sure. But before I leave I wanna invite you for drinks."
"Drinks?"
"Oh don't tell me you don't drink, or don't get into bars." I scoffed.
"Drinks for what?"
"I want to know who my sister's been associating with. Meet me at that bar where her loser boyfriend works tonight at 8." He got in his car and drove away. I got back into my car, shut the door, and sighed.
"The resemblance is uncanny," said Calum.
*Bridget's POV*
I sat on the couch as the iconic opening riff to Hold On Till May played through the speakers in the living room of Tyler's apartment. I closed my eyes and was ready to take a nap until I felt my phone vibrate. I groaned. It was a call from Tyler and I picked up.
"What's up?" I answered.
"Look, that Ronnie kid and some guy that looks just like you are sitting at a booth here." My throat tightened. Brent.
"Okay, what do you want me to do about it?" As if I could do anything...
"I don't know, get them out of here before they start something because I can sense them looking over at me all the time."
"Alright," I said, hanging up. I groaned louder this time and I got up from the couch and slipped on my Uggs and a hoodie before leaving the apartment. "Fuck," I muttered. It was freezing out with snow all over and I completely forgot Tyler had the car. Suddenly, an idea popped in my head and I pulled my phone out again. I dialed Ronnie. He picked up immediately.
"Bridget?" He sounded confused and nervous.
"Ronnie! Can you come pick me up at Tyler's place?"
"Why?"
"So we can go hang out in the city!"
"Why so sudden?" I paused.
"Because I just want to be with you." He paused.
"So you should come to the bar then! That way you'll be with me and Tyler!" I rolled my eyes. He knew exactly what game I was playing.
"If you don't wanna hang, just be forward, Ronnie." I hung up and exhaled deeply. Fuck. It was cold out and I had no car. Well it shouldn't be too far of a walk...
I started walking.
