"I heard that the scores of the mock test will be up after lunch time. But I just couldn't help and took a look at it. We have 2 students who are in the top 5 in the year and I just wanted to share the good news!"

Mr Chang said excitedly as he entered the class.

The class didn't seem interested though, the girls looking at their nails or doing their hair. That was because the news wasn't something new as the what Mr Chang was about to say became something like a routine, as expected.

"Jake 2nd for physics, 4th for maths and Chae ah 3rd in physics and maths. My wonderful students who are so hardworking!"

My Chang applauded, following a delayed soft clap from the class.

"24..33, got it"

Heeseung mumbled scribbling the numbers on a paper.

"Why are you writing down the numbers?"

Jake questioned.

"I'll buy a lottery ticket. Doesn't the numbers look good together?"

"?"

During lunch break, the class representative had put up the score sheet on the board in the classroom, as instructed by the teacher.

When the students return to class, everyone flocked the notice board to check their scores and ranking.

"9th place overall! Not bad."

Heeseung exclaimed to Jake, while continuing to scribble down the numbers.

"What's he doing?"

Chae ah asked.

"Lottery numbers."

Jake answered, still questioning Heeseung.

"Aren't we underaged?"

"Probably his brother."

Chae ah hummed a response, then crossed her fingers and silently prayed as she looked through the list for her name under the literature score sheet. However because of how everyone was crowding around the board, people were pushing around, nearly causing Chae ah to fall.

"Don't push."

Jake sternly blocked a guy, glaring at him to go to the back. He stood directly behind her afterwards, the perfect height where he could rest his head on hers.

"Isn't it easier to start looking from the back?"

Jake stretched his hand over her shoulder, flipping over the pages.

There it revealed on the last page, the only two failures in literature, scores only 46 and 49.

"..."

Chae ah stared blankly at the list.

"Oh damn, you guys really did come in last place again."

Heeseung laughed, pointing at the board as his prediction came true.

"You jinxed us."

She grumbled, turning the other side to avoid eye contact as she walked back to her seat.

"Guess I beat you in both literature and physics."

Jake grabbed her wrist before she could leave, smiling in triumphant.
