"Not bad, my lesson last week was not a waste. I'll briefly review it as we already gone through the details last week, focus more on how to tie in everything."Mr Yoon handed their work back, as he gave started to write out his version of the answer.
14/25
The passing grade on Chae ah's paper was something she felt proud of, even though Mr Yoon had basically already provided all the analysis last week.
That wasn't the important part, nor was listening to Mr Yoon's explanation. She wanted to take a peep at Jake's paper, hoping to get higher marks.
Her hands held onto her paper tightly, afraid to show her marks before she saw his. By the looks on his face, he seemed confident again this time. Covering her marks, she bit her lip anxiously, peering to her side as she took a peep at his score.
15/25
He didn't even bother to cover it up, purposely slanting the paper closer to her as if taunting her. Her eyes dropped in disappointment as she was beaten.
Jake took notice of this and leaned in to whisper something when Mr Yoon turn to write something on the board.
"It's my turn this week."
"Roses are red, violets are blue.
Not gonna lie, I'm better. Just admit it's true."———————————
"Damn that does sound a little harsh."
Heeseung shook his head as Jake told about his poem line. It was necessary to update him on their poem lines because he was the "judge" in this childish challenge.
"You think so?"
"I know so, she's always sensitive when it came to grades, specifically comparing to yours."
"She did have her laughs back in junior year, when I was still behind her in Physics."
Jake shrugged, recalling the times the girl would walk over to his table and tighten her hair tie in triumphant, evidently irritating him.
That was last year, when he was still going through puberty and probably wasn't as intelligent and mature yet.
Now was different, he caught up real quick before their 2nd year started, coming back to school ten times more handsome and attractive then before. His grades also soared, beating Chae ah in physics and sometimes even math. It was his turn to go around teasing her, choosing to seat behind.
"I'm curious as to how you guys even start this rivalry."
"I guess she naturally just saw me as a competitor."
"But that line yesterday was indeed cool and powerful. I must say this stupid challenge is quite entertaining to me."
Heeseung gave a thumbs up as they walked to their classroom.
"Though you might want to prepare yourself for another bicker cause she's probably thinking of ways to kill you, literally."
Jake laughed at Heeseung's comment.
"She didn't seem angry after class yesterday so I don't think she's that mad. Besides regarding that practice, she probably admitted defeat the score was written there."
Jake knows she was probably feeling more of disappointment and embarrassment rather than anger.
"Morning Chae ah!"
"Morning."
The girl replied as she felt their presence behind.
"Jake already filled in with me about yesterday. Looks like it's 1:1."
"We're even for now."
Chae ah uninterestingly replied.
"What's with the morning attitude? Did you skip breakfast?"
Heeseung asked.
"Actually I had a sandwich."
"Then is it the weather? You're comments feel so cold."
He pouted, to which the other two cringed at.
"Chae ah, here."
Jake handed a carton of strawberry milk out of the blue.
Unlike Heeseung who was wondering why on earth did he suddenly do that, Chae ah who was surprised didn't question further, quietly accepting and mumbling thank you.
Perhaps it was because of yesterday, he decided to this, at least that was what Chae ah thought of.
Heeseung frowned, not knowing what else to say to either of them as he didn't understand their peculiar actions. It was as if another thought strike him, one that was a little absurd.
"Omg Chae ah did you hear about the latest gossip!"
Chae ah's table mate Yesoo changed the topic.
"Apparently Hayeon is really dating Sunghoon!"
Hayeon was the class representative and Sunghoon is the "face" of their class, they were always friendly and close to each other so it was quite natural for them to get together, expected.
Their dynamic is the total opposite of what Jake and Chae ah had. They are understanding towards each other and hanged around closely, something Heeseung wished the two would have so he could spend a day in peace.
"You guys could use a lesson or two from them. It's like polar opposites. Their heaven, where you could see rays of lights while you guys are like hell, literal fire pit."
Heeseung gave a description watching the couple enter the class while students flock them to confirm the gossip.
"What literature device was that?"
Chae ah asked Jake.
"I don't know but it definitely sounds very literature. Maybe symbolism? Mr Yoon hasn't gone through that yet."
Jake continued, actually putting in his thoughts and catching on to what Chae ah was doing.
"It might be something else but I'm sure it's not metaphor or simile even though it is a description."
Chae ah added, unsure as well.
Heeseung watched them apply their literature skills blatant ignoring him, dumbfounded, but at least they actually learnt something in Mr Yoon's lesson other then daydreaming.
"It's comparison you fools."
He blurted out as they still couldn't t get the correct answer.
"Mind you that you are also part of 'hell' since you're with us."
Chae ah spat back.
How's the story so far?
I've been busy with projects so there won't be an next week. Update will be back the week after thank you for your patience!!
