You, Kiri, and Tuk were sneaking around, listening to whatever your parents were discussing. “This thing, This Quaritch, whatever he is. Can walk right in here, under Eywa’s nose.” You heard your father discussing with your mother. “This is our family! This is our home!” You heard your mother say, painfully as Kiri beckoned for your brothers to come over. “This is about our family! About our little ones!” You heard your father argue back. ‘Are they planning on leaving this village..?’ You were struck by your thoughts. ‘They wouldn’t do that… surely…’ you wanted to yell. Scream at your parents. You don’t want to leave the forest. It’s your home. All you’ve ever known.

“I can not. You can not ask this.” Neytiri was firm. ‘He actually wants us to leave..?’ you felt a lump in your throat, like you were about to cry. “I can not leave my people. I will not.” Your mother spoke, pacing around, and showed your thoughts to be true. You gasped quietly. “He’s hunting us.” Your father was quick to argue back. Even though his point was valid, where would we even go that they couldn’t track us? Your mother just shook her head. “He’s targeting our family.” He added. “YOU CAN NOT ASK THIS! THE CHILDREN, EVERYTHING THEY’VE EVER KNOWN! THE FOREST! THIS IS OUR HOME!” Your mother cried out, trying to reason with your father. “He had our children. He had them under his knife.” He spoke in a whisper. Your mother breathed out, realizing how much would be lost if they left. She grabbed her bow, “My father gave me this bow as he lay dying. He said protect the people.” She swung the bow back and forth a couple of times. “You’re Toruk Makto!” She cried. “This will protect the people!” He raised his voice, “Quaritch has Spider and that kid knows everything. He knows our whole operation. He can lead him right in here! If the people harbor us, they will die. Do you understand?” Jake spoke, nearing closer to hurt than anger. “Look, I got nothing.” He shrugged. “I got no plan. But I can protect this family; that I can do.” He looked at the ground, knowing he was betraying even himself to protect us. Your mother took a breath, placing a hand on her head and starting to cry. Your father went up to her and looked her in the face. “But I know one thing; wherever we go, this family is our fortress.” They shared an embrace as your mother fought back the tears swelling in her eyes.
