Chapter 11

You watched as your siblings dived into the water while rubbing your fingers together with anxiety. Back in the forest so many things could kill you that you weren't allowed to go into the water. "C'mon!" Neteyam looked at you and then ran and jumped into the water. "WHOO-HOO!" Lo'ak yelled excitedly.

"C'mon (Y/N), it will be fine." Kiri said, grabbing your hand. "Yeah! It's gonna be so fun!" Tuk said as she took your other hand. "We'll jump on three... one... two... THREE!" Tuk counted down and you all jumped into the water. You looked around, marveling at the beauty of the home of these creatures. Your anxiety seemed to halt completely and your breathing slowed. You got so caught up looking at everything that you didn't even notice that you bumped into someone.

It was Ao'nung. 

He grabbed your arm and threw you up to the surface. "Watch where you're going, Shxawng. If it was anyone other than me you would have been skinned." He got super close to your ear. "And we wouldn't want that, now would we?" You could hear the smirk in his words and it made you pissed. You pulled away, not noticing how flustered you seemed to get. "No..." was all you could manage out. "Great, let's rejoin them then, shall we?" he said with a passive-aggressive smile on his face.

You joined the others again, Roxto smirked at Ao'nung which made Ao'nung hit him in the back of the head while he shook his head. You went back to being amazed at everying in the water. You looked at Kiri. She had such a deep connection with the water already. You followed the rest of the group and looked closely at Ao'nung, trying to keep some distance so he wouldn't 'skin you'. Your brothers went up for air and you followed. When you got up to the surface, you heard them breathing heavily and gasping hard. You just laughed as you kicked your feet to stay to the surface.

You saw Lo'ak look down into the water so you did the same. You saw Tisreya do something with her hands which made you confused. Neteyam made a confused gesture with his hands and Tsireya just motioned for us to follow. You went under and followed again, your heartbeat increasing again. You were getting scared and you wanted to go back to the tent.

Lo'ak pointed up and you and your siblings surfaced. You looked underwater just fast enough to see Ao'nung roll his eyes dramatically which made you laugh. He looked so goofy. You watched them as they came up to the surface to talk to you and as Ao'nung surfaced he wasn't paying attention and almost knocked into you but instead he grabbed your waist and moved you to the side a little bit with a quiet "Sorry.." and he returned his position next to his sister. "Are you alright?" Tsireya asked. "You're too fast!" Tuk complained "Wait for us!" "Just breathe. Breathe." She said back to Tuk. "You are not good divers. Maybe good at swinging through trees but-" Ao'nung's statement was cut short with a slap on the head from his sister. "C'mon bro.." Lo'ak said, trying to be nice. "We don't speak this... finger talk guys... We don't know what you're saying." Neteyam chimed in while moving his fingers. "I will teach you, Ao'nung will teach (Y/N) what she needs to know as well." "What? Fine.." Ao'nung said. "Where is Kiri?" Roxto asked, looking around. "Who?" Ao'nung rolled his eyes. "Kiri! Where is Kiri?" Roxto repeated again. He seemed like a sweet boy. Tsireya asked him, "Did you see her?" You stopped them all from talking. "Guys... look..." You pointed to your sister. She was smiling and being gentle. Looking happy for the first time in a while.

 This place will be good for her.
