Reader wakes up to something heavy draped on top of him. Confused, he opens his eyes to see Jay, peacefully sleeping on him. Reader smiles and strokes the boy's hair for a moment but stops when he hears a voice say, "What do you think happened last night?" That's Cole.
"I don't know, but it's definitely weird for them to be cuddling each other like that." That's Kai.
"I am sure Reader has a good reason for sleeping with Jay in his bed." And that's Zane.
"Let's hope so.....Anyway, I'm gonna head outside. See ya." Kai says, the sound of his footsteps signaling he's making his way to the bedroom door. The loud groan of the old door tells everyone in the room he just opened it.
"Okay, I'll join you in a minute." Cole calls out.
"Okay, bye." And with that, Kai leaves the room.
"Do you think we should wake them up?" Zane asks, the sound of someone -probably Cole- shuffling soft objects and walking around the room. Mainly between the ninjas shared dresser and a bunk.
"Eh, maybe. You can be the one to do that though." Cole says shutting the dresser drawer.
"Alright." Zane agrees, his light footsteps making it clear to Reader he's heading their way. He places his hands on the top of the mattress and shakes the bed a little. Reader doesn't move. Zane gently places his cold ass hand on Reader's arm and shakes him a little.
"Reader, Jay, it's time to wake up." Zane says as he shakes them again. Reader groans and turns his head, pretending like he hasn't been awake the whole time. He squints his eyes open and is greeted with Zane's smiling face.
"Good morning." He says sweetly.
"Morning." Reader groans out. He taps Jay's back and says, "wake up," as he starts to sit up. Jay groans in protest and tries to get Reader to lay back down so he can sleep. Reader chuckles lightly and pats his back again.
"Come on, man. You gotta get up." Reader says, gently pushing Jay off of him.
"Nooooo!!" Jay groans out as he rolls over. Reader rolls his eyes as he gathers his legs and swings them over the side of the bed.
"Whatever, man. You can sleep in and be late, just don't blame me when Sensei gets on your case." Reader remarks as he climb down the wooden ladder. Jay groans again as he slaps an arm over his closed eyes. Reader rolls his eyes again and limps over to their shared dresser. He opens his designated drawer and shuffles through it, trying to find a new combination of the few clothes he has. Being out of commission for a while gives you the opportunity to get some cool new clothes that aren't just your ninja Gi. Which is pretty cool tbh.
Before Reader can escape to the bathroom to change, Jay's already speeding over to it. Looks like he found his second wind- even though it's his first- whatever.
Reader scoffs in annoyance but says nothing. Zane and Cole have already left the room, must've done that when Reader was waking Jay up. Reader sighs and sits down on Zane's bunk. He looks around the dusty room, but his eyes settle on his feet. Seeing the bandage on his foot reminds him of the weird feeling he keeps distracting themselves from. You'll never get your True Potential. Hell, you won't even get close. They all pity you. You're only still here because they feel bad for you. They don't care. They never have and never will.
Then how do you explain last night?
He was just using you for his own comfort. He doesn't really care about you. None of them do. They think you're a freak. A completely useless freak. They- Jay bursts through the door and throws his pajamas into his blue hamper and runs back out, not saying anything. Must've not wanted to be too late Reader rolls his eyes and stands up. He grabs his clothes and a little pouch-attachment-thing Jay made for his crutches so that he could carry stuff and move around. It's come in very handy.
