Chapter 9 – Remorse
Shaken, Obi-Wan wandered the hallways of the temple. I have made a mistake. A fatal mistake. I should never have betrayed Anakin like that. I delivered him to Windu. And then I pretend that we're friends? Will he ever be able to forgive me? He shook his head sadly. It should never have gotten that far. He cared deeply for Anakin's friendship. Even though he often followed the High Council. But this time, by obeying its order, he had jeopardized his friendship.
Obi-Wan desperately needed to find Anakin. He had to talk to him. Apologize to him. After their last conversation, his former Padawan had run away. I hope he doesn't do anything stupid. At that moment his commlink buzzed.
"Kenobi here."
"Master Kenobi, this is Master Fisto."
"Hello Master Fisto."
"A Council meeting is being called. Please report to the Council chamber."
"I'm on my way."
As soon as Obi-Wan broke the connection, he sighed internally. Anakin would have to wait. The Council needed him urgently. Now. Immediately, he set off. Anakin wasn't going to run away from him. Hopefully.
oOo
"Can you stand up?" Anakin looked questioningly at Padmé.
"I think so." Padmé nodded and stood up. "What should we do, Ani? Windu will do everything to lock me up here again."
He won't dare. I will protect my angel. Anakin smiled in her face. "Don't worry, I have everything under control."
She looked at him questioningly and then grinned slightly. "Does that mean you have a plan how to get us out of here?"
Anakin grabbed her hand and pulled her to him. "Of course. Or do you think I would let you die here?"
Padmé then kissed him briefly and waited for him to start explaining the plan to her. A Skywalker plan.
