"So it's been a week since your last fight with Emilia, should we be worried?" Chuck looked to Melanie as he spoke and both smirked before looking at me.
"You know if she hears you she'll try killing you, right?" I narrowed my eyes at him. "And I'd rather not have it so I'll have to restrain her, it will lead to an argument, so please, for me, just shut up."
"I'm just saying," He shrugged before pouring us all a glass of whisky. "I mean, are you two even still having sex? You're acting like an old, married couple."
"You know what's better than make up sex?" I smirked and Chuck cocked a brow. "Thinking-it's-our-last-day sex. I'm surprised you haven't heard us."
"Heard who?" Emilia entered the room and Chuck's smirk broadened.
"You two." Melanie's smirked matched Chuck's scarily.
"You were talking about our sex life?" Emilia frowned at me before looking at the pair. "Well in that case, you might as well mention that thing I did last night with my-" I cut her off by putting my hand over her mouth.
I heard Chuck and Melanie laugh but I shot them a warning glance. Emilia licked my hand in an attempt to have me lift it but when that didn't work she resorted to biting it. Out of sheer annoyance, I retrieved my hand.
"Tongue." She finished with a victorious smirk.
"Now I'm intrigued." Melanie piped up and I was surprised to find Emilia still smirking.
"Well-"
"No." I cut in and took Emilia's hand, pulling her onto my lap swiftly and wrapping my arms around her, resting my hands on her stomach. "No one else needs to know." I kissed her neck before grabbing my drink.
"Lex, it's ten in the morning and you're drinking?" She turned to me.
"Well considering it's my only day off from training all you rookies, I figured I would make the most of it." I threw the last of my whisky back and slid the glass over to Chuck as a request for more.
"You drink a lot." Emilia frowned.
"Take me as I am or don't take me at all." I childishly stuck out my tongue.
"It baffles me how you're over six hundred years old." She leaned into me even as she said the words.
"I thought you liked it when I'm carefree?"
"I do, but not when it's ten in the morning and you're more awake than I am." She mumbled into my neck.
Chuck handed me a filled glass and I took a hearty sip, trembling as the hot liquid travelled down my throat and as Emilia began drawing patterns on my hands.
I heard footsteps bound down the hallway and I knew in a moment my carefree attitude would be replaced by...not so much annoyance anymore...but certainly an unwelcome feeling.
Cassandra appeared before me in yoga pants and a red gym shirt, accentuating all her womanly assets.
"Ready?" She asked. The girl had grown a lot more...I wouldn't say respect, but certainly somewhere close to that towards me.
I nodded as I stood, Emilia still clinging to me but with a cute frown now adorning her face.
"Just because I said I'm taking the day off training you rookies, doesn't mean I'm taking a day off training her." I kissed Emilia's forehead. "Besides, she surpassed the rookie stage two days into training. She's almost able to single-handedly kill a nephilim."
"Almost?" Cassandra frowned.
"Don't get cocky, it'll get you killed." I nudged the blonde and smirked. In truth, I had began to grown fond of her. Not in the protective way Emilia was, but in the way that I saw a younger me in her. She was all too eager to learn and I remember being that way with my father.
