Everything happened fast and even with my enhanced senses I couldn't slow it down. Cassandra had been shot, a bullet wound through her stomach and she fell into my house without grace. Emilia caught her but I didn't have time to feel anger towards her actions because Chuck was rushing to the kitchen and returned with a dish towel and applied pressure to the blonde's wound. My mother stood beside my father without saying a word, Melanie was terrified of the blood that stained her hands and Emilia was finding ways to stop the blood that we all knew wouldn't stop. Darcy was aimlessly helping her and me?
I stood watching the girl I loved try to save her ex lover. I knew how to keep the girl living. I knew what it would take but that would mean a risk to her and to me. But she would live...technically.
"Emilia." I mumbled, I didn't want to say it, I didn't want Emilia to do this. "Mia." I said a bit louder and her eyes met mine. "She won't make it."
"No." Emilia refused to acknowledge the news and I kneeled down beside her. "No, she's here because of us, Alexis, she's here because you brain washed her to be with me. She wouldn't be part of this if it wasn't for us. She's not dying."
"Then save her." I told my mate, taking her hand in my own. "There's no other way to do it than to turn her. So save her. But know that if you do she decides her own fate. She can walk out of this house of murders and be killed as an innocent still, or she can stay and conform to a life as a monster. We can't decide that for her."
"I've never..." She trailed off and I took her wrist in my hands, bringing it up to my lips and sinking my fangs into her, deep enough so the cut wouldn't heal immediately.
"Put your wrist to her mouth." I instructed and watched as Emilia did so. It killed me, the sight was painful in the sense of how intimate it was. I looked up to my mother and watched as her hand went over her mouth and her eyes turned to me in despair. She knew what that meant.
Emilia only took her hand away when she saw Cassandra take a few greedy gulps. Her cut began to heal but I licked her wound and it closed up within seconds.
"Chuck, take her to a spare room." I got up with Mia's hand still in mine. "Make sure she has blankets on her, the next few minutes will be hell for her."
"She's gonna die?" Darcy asked.
"It's the only way to turn her. She needs to die on her own." I closed my eyes and sighed. "I need to talk to Emilia." I looked to my mate to see her frowning, her hands still coated in the blonde's blood. It made me want to cringe.
Emilia followed me to our room and I told her to go wash her hands which she did without complaint. She returned though and sat on our bed beside me.
"You turning her comes with consequences." I started.
"Like?" She urged me on.
"Well first and most importantly. You feel her, like her feelings and desires. It's going to be very confusing to distinguish which is yours and which is hers in the beginning. You won't have much control." I ran a hand over my face. "You'll become protective of her, you won't like someone saying a bad word about her which will be damn hard for me because I'm sure I'll have my fair share of words to say about her." I didn't know if she knew how hard this was for me. To tell her she might want someone else. "I never saw this coming. This messes with everything."
"You think I'll fall for her." She stated.
"It won't be hard. I'm your mate but she's your heir. Your blood is in her now and that will draw you closer to her than anything to do with the mate bond will." I offered her a dry laugh. "I'm a bit disappointed I didn't think of that when I was trying to push you away."
