"And that's it? You didn't go running after her? No movie moment where you thought 'fuck the world, I love this girl'? Nothing?" Chuck kept drying the wine glass as his questions buzzed from his mouth.

"If I so much as winked at the girl I could've stopped her from leaving that hotel room, she was just a lay, Chuck, one I needed."

"Ouch." He frowned, finally looking up from drying the glass.

"You knew what you were doing, but girls always know how girls like things." I shrugged. "Have you not visited that Tumblr website?"

"Modern technology and myself do not mix," He looked to his century old cash register. "I like the old." He winked at me.

"Careful, I do bite." I smirked before a waft of air travelled through the opened door and a familiar face walked in. "Here comes trouble." I muttered before turning my whole body to face her.

She walked right up to the counter beside me, I worked hard not to stiffen my body or react to her in any way.

"What are you doing here?" I mumbled, taking a swig from the beer so kindly offered to me by the owner of the bar. I could feel his eyes on me. He was gauging a reaction out of me as well, much like Emilia.

"Getting a drink, I've heard this is the only good place in the city to get a good glass of reasonably priced wine." She waved her hand for Chuck to serve her.

"So you're a drinker?" I don't have a reasonable explanation why I asked, my lips simply formed the words and I released them as if I had no control over them.

I didn't get an answer because her eyes fell on the other bartender that walked out of the storeroom carrying a well-aged Chardonnay and her breath caught in her throat. I felt envious over Cassandra for a second before I righted my emotions and shrugged off whatever cares I had for Emilia beside me.

"You." She muttered to the blonde bartender and Cas turned, almost dropping the bottle in the process but Chuck was quick to catch it and cast a disapproving look onto his employee.

"This would have cost me one and a half thousand dollars to replace, think about that for a second please." Chuck muttered but I could hear the hint of reluctance in his tone. He wasn't really angry at her, more like trying to take control of the situation. Because here sat my mate beside me who had slept with the blonde that stood beside the guy I had slept with upon finding out I had a mate. It was all a bit much.

In fact, it was too much. I began to down the beer that sat before me and decided to stay and watch to see how all this played out.

"Emilia." Cassandra murmured.

"You work here?" Mia asked and I almost slapped her for her lack of intelligent discourse. Of course she worked here, Mia, why else would she be carrying out wine from the obvious storeroom? Because she was just an over-enthusiastic citizen who enjoyed helping out a bit too much?

"Yeah, for now." Could this human make things any more awkward?

"Oh." Mia replied and I fought back the scoff that was urging it's way out of my lips. Mia shrugged off her awkwardness before turning back to Chuck. "How about that glass of wine now?"

Chuck seemed so absorbed into what was happening that he failed to hear Mia's question. I, however, felt the need to make her leave quickly and hopped over the counter, fetching her a glass and finding the nicest bottle of Moscato I could locate. I poured her the glass, only half to test how much she really wanted this drink, then handed it to her. She sniffed the rim hesitantly before taking a sip and smiling.

"Lovely." She placed the glass down. "But if you wanted every human in this facility to know you're not one, you're going the right way about it." She cocked a brow at me.
