"Oi, oi, oi, what do we have here?" The British accent was so obviously fake that I cringed.
Mia's hand found mine instantly and possessively. "Me, my best friend and my girlfriend." She gloated as if she thought it was hit a nerve with Chuck.
Chuck put his hand to his chest and frowned, feigning pain and I shook my head at his antics.
"Could it be true, Alexis my love?" He gasped and I felt Mia stiffen more. Clearly she didn't hear the false tones in his voice.
"She is yet to get over our rendezvous, so let's calm down on the sarcasm, Chuck." I leaned down until my lips were grazing against Mia's ear and I felt her shiver. "He is harmless and our sex meant nothing."
Her body tensed even more and I knew she was about to get angry even as I placed a gentle kiss to her cheek. Her hand left mine and she took a seat at the bar, ordering herself a round of vodka from Cassandra who eyed my girlfriend quite openly. I suppose now I understood why she seemed so upset about Chuck's blatant statement of interest in me, because I wanted to rip Cassandra's head off and throw it in the Hudson.
I walked up behind her and wrapped my arms around her waist, kissing her neck before leaning my head on her shoulder.
"Be happy with me." I whispered, very aware that Chuck was watching the scene unfold with an amused smile on his lips. "Chuck's an idiot and Cassandra is about to get her eyes torn from her face if she doesn't stop looking at you the way I do." I said the last bit louder for the human to hear.
"How long have they been like this?" Chuck asked Darcy,
"Two days, the first day they didn't leave her room which resulted in sounds I can never unhear. The second they wanted to flaunt their relationship further by lounging on the couch all day making out. I thought getting out of the house would be better, I was wrong." I could hear the sneer in Darcy's tone.
"What changed the old one's mind?"
I spun around and glared at him. "Which one?"
"The old one." Chuck smirked.
"I could kill you right now."
"Now don't you go being a bad influence on the young." Chuck threw his arm over my shoulders and told Cassandra, who grudgingly looked at me, to fetch us a bottle of his finest wine to celebrate me finally coming to my senses.
Mia still seemed angry at Chuck, even more so now as his arm draped over my shoulder, but she lit up when she heard him say what we were celebrating. To ease her mind though, I shrugged Chuck's heavy arm off my shoulder and hugged her waist from behind instead. She leaned back into me and turned her head to kiss me.
She seemed to enjoy the kissing part of our relationship, she took every opportunity to place her lips upon my own. I wasn't complaining, I could admit to enjoying it about as much as she did, but she would initiate it a lot more than I did. I think she enjoyed the reassurance that I enjoyed her touch, that I was actually accepting her.
Cassandra returned with a smile on her face, the bottle in her right hand and she began bringing glasses over with her left. She offered Mia and I a smile which I humbly accepted. I couldn't hate the girl for wanting Emilia. I had given her Emilia in the first place, but I took her back and as long as she accepted that then I believe we would stay on good terms.
"To my best friend of a good two, maybe three weeks, and her mind finally being opened to the prospect of happiness." Chuck lifted his glass to the ceiling and spoke like a royal. "May she clutch it in a painful grasp and hold it forever."
