After the hype that was Endgame, Marvel needs time to ramp up its next big threat, which is Kang the Conqueror. However, Many people have complained about for various reason.
Too many to list here, but today I'm gonna give my honest to god opinion about each show, movie and short from Phase 4 of Marvel.
...
Wanda-Vision: The first of many productions, This show delved into pure nostalgia as well as the 5 stages of grief. This show always kept you on your toes and made you wonder what Wanda's would do to maintain her reality. While I do think elements like Darcy and White vision were underwhelming, but i ultimately think this show was a decent start to phase 4.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: My feelings here are mixed. I liked Sam's arc to him getting the shield and especially the new suit. I liked the touches of American Racism and how they handled Isaiah Bradley and his Nephew to set up Patriot. Karli wasn't more of a threat than she was a bratty teen whose methods didn't justify the means. Bucky had a good arc, but his therapist did very little and it was nice to see Zemo get a bit of a character arc while seeing him get justice for King T'chaka's murder. And John, he didn't deserve his redemption arc. Maybe they can explore him more in thunderbolts. Even I'm not sure what to think about Sharon being the Power-Broker And the French guy from Winter Soldier just felt unneeded. It was good, but had its bad moments.
Loki - Season 1: THIS WAS AWESOME! Tom Hiddleston put his heart and soul into the Character of Loki and to see him become more than just "The god of Mischief" and work with the TVA to fix timelines. This show brought us our first look at Kang and set up the big bad of Phase 5 while introducing the multiverse all at once. My only complaint was Sylvie. She's literally the same person as Loki but gender swapped, that kiss scene is the one thing I don't agree with.
Black Widow: This Movie gave us what we'd been asking for but was too late to deliver. Yelena and Red guardian are nice additions to the MCU while The red room seemed as threatening as ever. I do wish Taskmaster wasn't just a brainwashed girl under the mask, I would've liked it more if she'd had a vengeful brother under the mask instead. I liked the film mostly, but it probably should've been released before Endgame. It kinda lessens the Impact when we know what's gonna happen.
What If? - Season 1: Filled with diverse storylines, the threat Ultron could've become and the consequences a single choice could make, these storylines were decent entries into the MCU. Though I would've preferred to get the Gamora episode with season 1.
Shang Chi and the legend of the 10 rings: Karate Kid meets Marvel but better! Filled with sick beats, a plot line about family and letting go of the past combined with responsibility and making your own destiny, Shang is easily a masterpiece disguised by critics scores.
Eternals: While many don't like this movie, I find it's good because I'd never really heard of the Eternals beforehand to judge them. Although the Character of Ikuris is confusing at times, I still believe this movie is a good one.
Hawkeye: This show gives Clint his much needed time in the spotlight alongside Kate Bishop, helping him work with others and make up for his past mistakes during the Snap in the Form of Maya. His Son looks a bit too goofy for his age, but his family Is done justice, as is Yelena in a Misguided path for revenge, setting up her appearance in ThunderBolts nicely. My only criticism was Wilson Fisk. I like the character, but to have him show up right near the end and seemingly killed? I hope he lives so we can have that Spider Man + Daredevil fight we've been waiting for.
Spider Man No Way Home: SPECTACULAR!!! I mean this movie had everything! Old villains, New suits, Electro getting a chance to shine. The return of the Spider Trio and a spectacle of all Spider Man movies to be, My only complaint is that it wasn't longer! Definitely top grade from me!
Moon Knight: I liked this Show because of its dark mystery elements, while also trying to remain far off from other MCU hero's. The nature of Split Personality Disorder is displayed incredibly well and it's amazing how good Oscar Issac is when he's not being mocked as Poe Damoren. Moon Knight is a dark surreal Mystery story based on Egyptian lore and I loved every second.
Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness: Having gone through the pain of losing the girl you love myself, I felt Steven's pain each time he said he was fine. Still, despite being a heel turn from the ending of Wanda-Vision, Wanda made an incredibly good villain and Wong got a chance to show his role as Sorcerer Supreme. I do however think the Illuminati could've been better, like having superior Iron Man take Reed's title. Smartest man in the world my ass...
Ms Marvel: With stunning artistic visuals and a deep look into Muslim culture, this show really manages to mesh well with Teenagers like me and gives you someone to relate to. Don't get the last after credit scene but I loved it regardless.
Thor Love and Thunder: It was Awkward having Thor without Loki in a movie, but its main flaw lies in the theme. I understand the obvious romantic theme, but the film should've had less comedy and managed to blend it more with a serious theme. Gorr is the god of destruction and should've been given that sense of death. I liked the ending, but I think I could've been very different in a good way.
I am Groot: Nothing much to say here, just a lovely short series that is meant to make us smile.
She Hulk Attorney at Law: Good Lord, where do I begin? This show, it turned into an absolute joke and not even the funny kind. As proved by the end, this show had no idea what it wanted to be at all. It only had some funny moments and the most interesting episodes were the beginning and the Daredevil episode. Honestly, I could've written this show way better in a month.
Werewolf by Night: I like the idea of Murder Mysteries and monster hunts, especially with them introducing Swamp thing and a freaking werewolf! If you watch only one movie for next Halloween, i recommend this one.
Black Panther Wakanda Forever: Sometimes, I wonder how different this film could've been if Chadwick had survived. Still, they did their best with what they had and made an amazing spectacle. What Spider man NWH had in action and nostalgia, this film had in characters and emotional impact. This film juggles Not only the loss of a great hero and country leader, but also the conflict of vengeance Vs pacifism. Aside from being a good set up for Ironheart, even characters like Everett Ross and Okokye got big roles to shine. Still, Rest in peace Chadwick. You will always be our hero and our king...WAKANDA FOREVER!!!
Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday special: A fun holiday special bringing the Guardians back for one last fun adventure before Rocket and/or Drax die in Vol 3. Regardless, Seeing Kevin bacon just being himself and Mantis becoming Quill's family, it's nice to see the guardians really being a family for once.
...
Overall, I think this phase wasn't the best, but I think that's just because it was building down from the hype of Thanos to build up to Kang being the new big bad. Looking forward to Ant Man 3 and the rest of Phase 5 to come.
