What if...Axol Lived?

Axol the Axolotl is a peculiar character, not just because of his anime obsession or being an smg4 character. In fact, he's one of the few level headed people on the show!

Axol was born in Inkopalis, hated by everyone because of his love for anime. He moved to Japan after building Inkweaver, a pen that can make real anime characters, then lived their until the events of The anime arc, an arc that changed the way Smg4 arcs appeared from their on.

After the arc, he was one of the move beloved characters. If Meggy's Destiny and claims from Bob and Boopkins were enough, he clearly liked to inspire and change others to be the best versions of himself. This is something I tried to emphasise with Crystal in my story in the brief interactions they had before...well, y'know.

This Moment changed how I saw Smg4, made me scared for the next arc because this is what I thought. If the character wasn't Meggy, Tari, Smg4 or either of the Mario bros, they all had a chance to kick the bucket. I even thought Smg3 had a chance to die. 

Of course, Axol's legacy was carried on by Melony, the girl he loved, and Meggy, the girl he inspired to be comfortable with who she was.

But what if we saw these events differently? What if Axol survived the Genesis arc?

For this, we're going to look at 3 different aspects. 1: How we got here. 2: Why did it happened? 3: What can be done to save him?

For number 1: How we got here.

This started is the Smg4 episode The beginning of the end, later renamed the day HE arrived. This brought Zero into the fold as the deadliest villain we've ever seen the Smg4 cast face,

At the time, Axol had just fix Inkweaver in the recent previous episode If Mario was in Anime. It had been broken since the Youtube Arc about a year prior, he'd been trapped for 5 years in some sort of time warp and almost lost his sanity and he'd also recently lost his title of best Anime artist.

For me, I thought he was gonna do what he did best, rise back to the top all the way from the bottom. If Meggy could do it, I saw no reason he couldn't. But by the end, after being trapped in Zero's USB and waking up like nothing happened, I figured it out immediately. He had been possessed or was being kind controlled into some capacity.

From there,  Zero Manipulated Mario, Smg4 and 3 to be trapped in his pod and began his master plan: Sacrifice Mario to build his own universe.

2: Why did it happen?

By the time Melony reached Axol in their first mind journey, Axol was barley able to move. He was bound in chains and seemed to be half asleep. He had just enough energy to tell Melony to about his journal with his love confession comic before passing out, all while she...fiddled around with the chains? I think in the moment, she forgot she had a sword.

After the epic Rap,  Axol was a dead man walking when we saw him the last time. His limbs were all confined in some sort of Crystal rock and his face was pinned by wires as a result. 

I didn't need to see anything more then that to know he was on deaths door. Nothing could be done to save him, he knew that and with Zero about to kill everyone, he took the initiative and boldly asked Melony to kill him, ending his life to save everyone else...

But how could this have changed?
