Chapter 2: Contract With The Master Of Dawn

Welcome to Toontown News! This is everyone's favorite robot cowboy, Smokey Silvers, and I'll be bringing you the latest news regarding the story of Kingdom Hearts - Fallen Light. This way, you can count on me for a recap if you too find yourself in the very likely scenario of an adventure that will make you leave your home for eons.
In the previous chapter: Tonitrus' dream of competing in the Aero-Motion Tournament was shattered when our city was overrun by a horde of monsters. Luckily, with the help of both the legendary PK and a special weapon that reached the boy , the city was saved! However, there was some damage left over from the attack.

When Tonitrus went back to the stadium, he was greeted with an immeasurable amount of cheering. Part of him was happy with the audience's reactions to his return, but there were more important things to focus on at that moment. He rushed onto the stage wide-eyed to see if Gaia was okay, but... She wasn't there. He kept looking for her, screaming her name with his anxiety increasing with every shout, but she was nowhere to be seen.
His search was then interrupted by Krile, who placed a hand on the agitated boy's shoulder and said: "I see that you are a friend of Gaia. Do not despair, she has taken a serious wound near her heart, but she is not in danger. We've taken her to the hospital, but the doctors may allow you to see her. Once they took care of her wounds, that is."
Tonitrus' face changed into a barely perceptible smile and he rushed to the hospital, not before thanking Krile for helping in that grim situation.

The hospital wasn't hard to find, as it was just a few blocks from the stadium. However, it was way more crowded than Tonitrus anticipated, as there were multiple ambulances lined up carrying other possible injuries from the attack.
"Looks like Gaia wasn't the only victim...," he said, before taking a deep breath and entering the facility. When he entered, he saw many people who didn't look injured, but there was still a very gloomy atmosphere around them. He assumed that these people were related to the now attended people, whether that were friends or even family members.
A nurse came up to him and asked:
"Good afternoon, sir. I see your clothes are a little torn, possibly from the attack that just happened. If you're looking to be admitted, I'm sorry to say but this hospital is already at maximum capacity. There has been a lot of damage due to this recent incident, and we can't treat more than a fixed number of patients. Not only civilians, but also policemen and firefighters have had difficulties.".
The boy, slightly embarrassed by being called sir, replied:
"Actually... I just wanted to visit a friend of mine who isn't feeling very well, that's all."
"Very well. Is it okay if you ask me the name of this friend of yours? This way we can check if she's made it to the hospital or if she's still on her way." said the nurse.
Tonitrus replied: "Yes, of course. Gaia-"... then he realized that she had never told him her last name, but was luckily interrupted by an elderly woman who finished the sentence:
"Hargrove. Her name is Gaia Hargrove." The woman left, looking a little heavy minded, while Tonitrus saluted her with a joyful "Thank you!".

Eventually, he was given directions on where his friend was residing, and knocked to see if she was awake or in the middle of a tough surgery. Fortunately, the blonde boy heard a kind: "Come in!", And decided to enter the room.
"Oh, Tonitrus! How brave of you to leave that contest just to visit me!", said Gaia. Despite what little energy she had, she still managed to keep a serene tone. She no longer was in critical condition, as medics were able to reduce the severe injuries, but she was forced to remain connected to a life support system to keep her damaged circulatory system afloat. Not even PK had such a complex technology to deal with something of this caliber.
"Sorry I'm late. I got here as quickly as I could..." he said, back to his lower tone.
"I can tell...", she said, looking at the state of his uniform, especially that big cut on his left shoulder, where his blade ended up after trying to parry one of Lilium's attacks . The blond boy was silent for a short time before Gaia asked him:
"What is it, Tonitrus? Did anything else happen while I was gone?"
"No, it's just..." - he began to shed a few tears - "You're the first person I've met in who knows how long that did not say mean stuff once you saw my face. And seeing you like this... I just can't handle this... if we hadn't acted in time, you could have been reclaimed by the blue sky above!" he cried.
"But despite everything, you still managed to save me.", she said, which made the broken hero open his eyes, "Krile told me everything. You fought against the monsters that attacked me and in the end you forced them to retreat! It was not the first attack this city suffered, but it was by far the largest in scale. Is it true that even PK was having a hard time fighting them?" she asked.
"It's true. We had to alter between the two of us, and I barely stopped the first in command from dealing the final blow to him..." he said.

"Thank you, Gaia." Tonitrus said before attempting to hug her. Her heart was only connected to a relatively flexible tube that went through her chest, so the attempted hug was successful. The two remained together for a while, until the sky began to darken, which was Tonitrus' queue to say goodbye to her friend and leave, since the hospital allowed visits until a specific hour.
