Chapter 12 - The Land that Almost Was

"I've found a wielder."

This was the message that Lilium heard from Cosworth. For the first time in a very long time, she was actually smiling behind her mask. If her mind was correct, such a discovery could more than make up for what just happened at Agrabah, even to the point of Mizrabel potentially closing an eye on that mistake.
She was told to visit the experimentation room of Hollow Bastion. She was more than familiar with the location, yet couldn't help but feel excited by who they got their hands on. Of course, she would have been very happy if it was one of the wielders she already saw, especially Tonitrus, but she was happy with any.
Upon entering, she was greeted by the black-haired soldier, who said:
"Welcome back. I thought you could have used a hand, so when I saw this guardian of light roam around close to our domain, I thought it was the best course of action to give it to your attention."
She looked at the wielder they got their hands on. It was a young boy, who was currently unconscious as a result of one of Cosworth's attacks. Lilium was able to recognize him due to his face and details. The blonde hair that was so similar to that of Roxas, the white short clothes with that small note of dark armor… She realized they got their hands on a rather big asset.
The young boy had just started to wake up, and had started to find out about the situation he was in. Upon seeing the two, he tried to get his Keyblade out, but was unable to, as he had no energy to get it out. All he could do was grit his teeth, and hear their words, saying:
"... Where am I? What do you want from me?"
"Ventus… A heart who was once inhabited by an immense darkness… But is now purged of it. Do you say this should be remedied?", she replied.
"Good luck then. What are you going to do, inject it on me? I'd like to see you try."
As a response, a dark energy was being released from one of her gloved hands.
"You actually managed to nail how an Overwritten works. Good boy.", replied the masked girl, before launching on him, and when her hand hit his chest, specifically where his heart was, the energy went around him. He screamed, but he couldn't do much until his vision completely blacked out.
In his last moments of his current consciousness, he could hear her saying:
"You won't be the only one getting this special treatment. Just you wait. Soon, your other friends will join you."

On the other side, Riku had just seen the man who found his way to their isolated planet. He had a tight gray suit on the upper half of his body, with a crossed red belt on the side of the chest. His left arm was also protected by a light brown armor that went from his shoulder to his fingers. His pants were of a strong alteration between white and black, like a slightly more refined zebra, and his outfit was finished off by what looked to be boots with some metallic notes.
"It's nice to see you all again. And a pleasure to meet the two new sparks.", he said.
"Oh… Please, come on in!", said Riku, strongly surprised by his appearance, in a positive way.
The brown haired man then went inside and gave a small look at the inside of the shelter, and was rather impressed by it.
"You don't see a place with this much detail in a land as empty as this one. I can tell you made all of this on your own, and it looks really good.", he said.
"Thanks. We thought it was a good idea to have a resting point for all of us between each mission. This way we can minimize Gummiship movement, and as a result, make it harder for the forces of Mizrabel to find us.", replied Riku.
"It was a fun thing to do the first time we had a breather. Fortunately, we had some days of peace so we spent those working on it.", added Roxas.
Seeing the blonde boy, Terra's mind paused for a second, but he got his sense back fairly quickly.
"Sorry about that. For a second I mistook you for Ventus… I still need to get used to the fact there's another person like him.", he said.
"Don't worry about it. After all, we haven't talked a lot before the Hollow Bastion incident… Oh! Speaking of, we managed to have a rematch on Cecil, the soldier who managed to defeat us before. Or at least, Riku's new pupil did that for us.", added Roxas.
Terra was completely amazed by his words. Riku has a pupil? And said pupil took care of the man who was responsible for having everyone separated from each other? It would need a lot of optimism to believe something like that right away, but the natural connection to light is a big contributor.
Therefore, he asked:
"I'd be really interested in seeing this new spark. Is he here right now?".
In response, Tonitrus, who was reading a comic book on the sofa, was completely unaware that they were talking about him. At least, until Nyx murmured something in his hear.
"They… Might be talking about you, Little Spark", said Nyx.
"Oh!" he said, before jumping straight out of the sofa, and shaking hands with Terra.
“So, you must be the new wielder they told me about. I'm Terra, pleased to meet you.”, said the brown haired man.
“Tonitrus. Same goes to me.”, replied the blonde boy.
“Riku's been taught well. He knows where to find promising warriors whenever the time calls”, added Terra.
“Destiny sure has a thing for playing games with me. It was there when I saw him unlock his keyblade to save his hometown, just like he was when Sora and I first learned of the key…”, he said.
“Yeah. It does.”
“Before I forget… How did you find us?”, asked Riku.
“This special type of darkness has faded away a little too quickly. It looks like the thoughts I had were actually close to what I’m seeing. You’re all managing to free Isignia! Aqua would have definitely been proud of you..”, replied the brown haired man.
“Wait… That means that she’s still missing?”
“Unfortunately so. Same goes for Ventus. But I’m certain that with your help, we can find them before things go very wrong”.
“Do you have a destination by any chance?”
“I saw a weird energy around Neverland while I was going here… That place might be a good start.”
While they got themselves ready to visit their next destination, Nyx stopped for a second to think. Her mind said:
“That darkness… So intense, yet… Controlled. Is it truly possible to not be overrun by it?”
