Chapter 7: A Nightmare Waiting To Happen

This is Smokey Silvers bringing you the latest news from the Isignia Galaxy once more! There's been a lot of news recently about what might be the biggest hangover in history! French general Jean Latiffe was found dead after organizing a party in Morant Bay, Jamaica. We did find a witness of this big loss, but we sadly couldn't understand a single word of what he said, as none of us were fluent in this obscure language these individuals spoke. Maybe it was something about this... Bar boss guy? Make of that what you will, I have a match to watch!

The crew was on its way for its destination. The Gummiship was fixed quickly, as Tonitrus happily offered himself to aid Nyx to get that hole repaired. Xion was originally opposed to that, but four working hands were better than two at the end of the day, and maybe the blue haired girl could have taken notes from his humility. But the thing she noticed most is that since they had left the Caribbean sea, Riku had not said a single word. He was just silently piloting the ship without interacting to the others, as if he was a robot. She tried to break the ice and approached him.
"Is everything alright, Riku? You've been a little too silent...", she asked. His eyes kept pointing at the vast space, but he did open his mouth.
"I was thinking of that girl from the ball... I can't fully describe it but, there was a certain aura around her that completely captivated me. It felt familiar, like a hug from a loved one I hadn't seen in years, but at the same time, I was afraid of losing control of my body. I didn't want that to happen, not a second time...", explained Riku.
"Riku...", muttered Xion, as she closed him with her arm. "You're still with us, which is all that matters. Besides, with one as used to darkness as you, it wouldn't be easy to bring you the wrong way again", she added, with a smile. He took a deep breath and replied: "I hope you're right, Xion...".
"Would you prefer if we switched places and I take control of the ship?", asked Xion, to try and alleviate Riku's load.
"I appreciate you wanting to help me out, but l can take this no problem. Plus, I can see something on the horizon, so we may not need to browse that much longer.", replied Riku. She stayed close to him just in case, hoping her presence could help alleviate the grey haired boy's currently weakened heart.

While Xion tried her best to comfort Riku, Nyx was looking for stars in the deep space from one of the ship's windows, seemingly thinking about something. She thought Tonitrus was not going to bother her at a time like this, especially after all the work he did before, but he was somehow just as energetic as he was before. He approached her and said: "Hey Nyx!".
"I guess you have something very important to say?", she rhetorically asked.
"Actually, I just wanted to say thank you for saving me earlier. Had you not summoned that shadowy figure, that masked lady would have destroyed me!", replied Tonitrus.
"I didn't do that to help you. I just so happened to hate that snobbish gentleman wannabe and whatever that girl was, is all...", she said in response with an emotionless tone.
"Come on, don't have that attitude! I know there is a heart in there!", said Tonitrus, in an attempt to reason with her.
"I'm just an ally. Not a friend. The only reason why I'm with you is because I have unfinished business with Mizrabel. If you want to bother someone, get to the cockpit, and let me be.", said the blue haired girl.

Those words didn't add up to Tonitrus. He knew what true carelessness was like, and his classmates way back in Toontown were the evidence. He even got himself injured once while attending physical education class, spraining a leg due to a poor pass from a teammate. His class didn't just do nothing to help him, but even laughed at him for such an inoccurrence. Luckily, he was able to walk his way to the emergency kit, as it was on one of the corners of the gym, but he wished he'd gotten a more supportive reaction from his "team". If Nyx was like them, she would have watched through Lilium destroy him, accompanied with the beignets she and Rydia took from the ball.
Deep in his heart, there was a belief that she really did care for him. The only problem being she was trying her best not to show it, for a reason he was not aware of.
