Trigger Warning: Sexual Harassment
Back to Original P.O.V.
I was standing on a white beach. Beneath the night sky, the beach glowed as bright as the stars. The ocean, which was a pure black that refused to reflect any form of light, softly crept in. For a few moments I would be stranded on a little island of the beach. Surrounded by the black water I waited anxiously for the water to recede, and it eventually would. I didn't really like the water, something about it was off, but I wasn't appalled by it. When the wave came back in, I tried to touch it. The water would either drain away or evaporate where ever I touched. I withdrew my hand, and the wave left once again. I noticed a large swell on the dark horizon. I watched in horror as the swell grew and grew into an immense black wave. I tried to run, but my feet would not budge.
"This is your place," a mighty voice echoed that sounded both feminine and masculine. The wave grew closer and bigger.
"I can't," I said. My body shook. "It's too big."
"You must defeat it. No one else, but you," the voice responded.
"I can't! Let me go! I can't!" I screamed when the wave began to break. Its spray was as black as the wave.
"You were chosen." The wave was looming over me. "If not you, then everything will be lost." Screams tore my attention away from the black wave to the crowd behind me. They were all running, crying, pleading, and cowering. There was nowhere for them to go, and the wave was coming fast. They weren't all human. The bodies were of so many different species and types, I didn't even know half of them.
The wave was now descending with all its weight. "I don't know what to do!" My hands held onto my head waiting for the blow. "What do you want from me?!" My scream ended in a gurgle when the wave crashed down. The black water swallowed me, and I couldn't breathe. Something was holding me down. I could not swim.
"There is nothing you can do! Submit to me! Surrender! Die!" a loud cackling male voice demanded. The water was pressing against me. Squeezing me. It was forcing its way into every orifice on my body. I clamped by hands over my face to stop the water from slithering into my nose and mouth, but it was still filling my lungs. I was drowning...
My eyes jumped open, and the complete darkness was replaced with a lavender cottony cloth shaded in night. I took grateful breaths, and checked to hear my heart beat. I was okay. It was just a stupid dream. My eyes slowly closed again as I enjoyed the warmth. My body pressed closer to the firm warm mass beside me.
Wait.
I carefully pulled my head up. I quickly recognized the crop of black hair. It was Hendrix! I was sleeping with Hendrix! Why was I sleeping with Hendrix? I tried to roll away, but he had draped an arm over me that refused to let go. I looked back to his face, and found that he was still sleeping. His black hair flipped and fell wildly about his expressionless face. His eyes closed peacefully, and his broad chest rising and falling. My heart thumped in my throat. He looked completely different in sleep. He still looked strong, but he was gentle. I could imagine him smiling or laughing. His annoying smirk and arrogant eyes no longer existed.
I looked away. My heart was so stupid. It barely ever reacted to anyone for twenty years, and now it decides it wants to try and develop a crush for this vampire who sees me only as his snack and toy? I wasn't going to stand for that. It was too cliché. Too pointless. But why was I sleeping next to Hendrix? The last I remember was that he ripped Cenderion's dress off of me, and then he took me to the bath... A blush burned all the way to my ears. He had me practically naked in the tub with him, and I had fallen asleep. I pressed my face into my hands to avoid screaming. What kind of person would fall asleep in a situation like that?
