Change Back to Original POV
I saw the sunlight from inside my closed eyes, and moaned sitting up. I stretched and held my hair out of my face as I woke up. That was the best night of sleep I had had since coming here. That stupid nightmare was nowhere to be seen, and I had a sense of peace and comfort that made me smile. I pressed the sheets down around my legs, and then stopped. How did I get to my room last night? The last thing I remembered was being with the Angel's Heart. I looked around trying to remember how I got in here when I saw a pair of ice-blue eyes staring back at me. I yelped and grabbed my chest quickly realizing it was only Hendrix.
"Don't do that!" My heart was pounding, and my legs twitched from the flight response he had triggered.
He chuckled, but I could tell it wasn't his normal laugh. "I didn't do anything."
I looked around the rest of the room then back to the intruding vampire. His hair was a little messy as if he had been pulling and messing with it, and he was dressed in casual black pants and a light grey T-shirt. He seemed... sloppy, or maybe disheveled. In either case, I had never seen him like this before.
"What are you doing in here?" I asked suspiciously.
"Well, someone wasn't in her room last night," he said giving me a pointed look.
I sat straight and turned to Hendrix. "Oh crap. I'm so sorry. I was checking in on the Angel's Heart, and I must have fallen asleep. I didn't mean to break the rule." Was Hendrix going to lock me in my room? Is that why he was here?
Hendrix looked down and sighed heavily. "Relax. I'm not locking you up... I actually wanted to speak with you."
I pulled up the blankets a bit and held them tight. "And you waited here all night to talk with me?"
Hendrix nodded and looked up to meet my eyes. "I did."
My heart skipped a beat as I looked into his blue eyes. "This isn't like you. You're scaring me."
Hendrix gave me a funny look. "Out of all the things I've done to you, this is what scares you?"
I shook my head. It wasn't what he was doing that made me nervous, it was that I couldn't explain it. He had become predictable to me, and now I had no idea what his angle was.
"Look, you once asked me why I wouldn't let you go. Why I was fighting so hard to keep you." He stopped and glanced at me, and I nodded for him to continue. "Well, I'm going to tell you why, but you absolutely cannot tell anyone about this."
"Okay..."
"I mean it. If you tell anyone, you would only be putting yourself in danger." His eyes were firm and serious.
I nodded. "I won't tell anyone."
He sighed. "Alright. The truth is, ever since the night I first drank your blood I haven't been able to drink any other blood outside of yours."
I blinked. "What do you mean?"
"I can't drink blood that is not from you. It tastes disgusting, and even if I could stomach the stuff, it only serves to make me thirstier. It's been this way ever since that night."
"Why would that be? Is this something that can happen to vampires? I'm just not understanding why you can only drink my blood now." This was too strange, but it would explain quite a few things I've noticed. Like when he vomited after drinking from that bottle of blood, and why he feeds from me so often.
