Mary led me through the many hallways once again. She held firm to my wrist as she led me through large doors and archways. My bare feet stumbled across the plush carpet after her quick measured steps.

"Um, can I have shoes?" I asked to break the crushing silence. Mary flashed her hazel eyes in my direction.

"What would you need shoes for?" she asked. I widened my eyes as I realized they didn't intend for me to go outside.

"Never mind," I murmured. Mary turned back with a nod of approval. It didn't matter. Shoes or not, I was still going to get away from here.

Mary finally led me through a plain door which led to an average sized room that resembled that of a hotel's. The bed was a full decorated in gold swirling bedspread and sheets. The carpet was tan and walls white. It was the least astounding room I've seen in this whole mansion so far. Mary pushed me forward and I tripped and fell into the bedroom.

"You will stay here. This will be your room for the entirety of your stay. Master Hendrix should be dropping in shortly." I watched in slight horror as Mary shut and locked the door from the outside. I waited a few moments, left in the dark room, and scrambled to the door. I twisted and pulled at the knob, searching for a way to unlock it. There was none.

I banged my head into the door and clenched my hands. Why did all of these doors lock from the outside? I took in a large breath and moved away. I paced and examined the room as I thought of ways to get out of here. The only thing I knew was that I didn't want to be here when "Master Hendrix" finally decided to drop by. To both my surprise and delight, there was a window just across the room. I ran to the window and roughly pulled it open. I frowned when I saw that metal bars were blockading my hopeful exit. I could taste the cool night air from the outside. In a burst of energy, I shook the bars in frustration. I looked up at the stars ignorantly blinking and sparkling in the dark blue night.

How long have I been away from home? Was my family alright? How far away from them was I? I cursed myself for not learning my constellations properly. If I had, then I might at least know where I was.

I pressed against the bars trying to feel as outside and free as possible, when suddenly one of the bars twitched and moved forward. I moved back and examined the now askew bar. I gripped it and pushed as hard as I could, and the bar slipped out from its slot in the window as crumbled material fell from where it was attached. I dropped the bar on the floor and leaned towards the new gap. I could only fit my entire arm through the bars now, but if I could dislodge one more I would be out. I glanced down and noticed that I was on the second floor. How I would get down I wasn't sure, but I would face that problem once I got there. Gripping one of the near bars to the gap I prepared to yank and shove with all my might. Before I could, however, I heard the door opening behind me as light flooded from the outside hallway. I quickly turned around seeing Hendrix and Keith standing at the doorway. For a moment, I stared at the intruding vampires and they both stared at me. The smile that spread across Hendrix's face sent chills down my spine. He then nudged Keith with his elbow.

"Still think I paid too much?"

Keith smirked and stood straight. "Will that be all Master Hendrix?" he responded.

Hendrix moved more into the room. "Kill joy. Yes, that will be all," he mocked. Keith nodded and quickly exited the room closing the door behind him. I was left trapped in a dark room with a questionable vampire. My heart jumped as Hendrix started walking towards me. What do I do?

Change of POV

I was playing chess with Keith when Mary had knocked on my study door.

"Yes?!" I called.
