Trigger Warning: The following chapter contains scenes of sexual harassment and attempted rape
Back to Original POV
Darkness. Darkness is coming. No one can fight it. Only me. Only I can.
I awoke with the dream still flaring in my mind. It was the same dream as last time. The same dream. I held my head, and tried to gather my senses. I didn't know how long I was out, but I felt immensely better. The food and water in my system helped out a lot.
"So you're awake?" I heard Hendrix say.
My heart leapt, and I searched the room for him. Lounging in a leather loveseat in front of the barred window, the black-haired and blue-eyed vampire was looking up from a book he had been reading. I bolted to a sitting position.
"Why are you..." There was on an odd weight on my right wrist. I looked down to see a large silver bangle that was two inches wide and half an inch thick. "What is this?" I asked turning my wrist to see the strange bracelet better.
Hendrix calmly closed his hardcover book, and sat straight on the loveseat. "It's a gift from me," he said with a smile.
Something about the way he said it made me feel uneasy. I pulled at the bracelet, but it would not come off my wrist. I tried twisting it and squeezing my right hand together, but it was too small to come off my hand. I didn't even know how Hendrix was able to put it on.
"You won't be able to remove it. Even I wouldn't be able to. It's also made of a metal unknown to humans. This metal is so strong, that nothing has been found that can cut it. It was made by a genius. You would have to cut your hand off, if you wanted to be free of it," Hendrix said a little proud of himself.
Sure enough, the bracelet wouldn't come off. The smooth shiny band seemed innocent enough, although it was a little heavy. "But, why?" I asked. Examining the bracelet close enough, I could see a small engraving that read 'Property of Jason Hendrix.' My teeth clenched at the remark. "Is this supposed to be a collar?" I said a little more angrily than I intended.
Hendrix rose his eyebrows. "Oh, did I hit a soft spot?" His irritating smile made me want to punch him. But even my strongest blow would be a pathetic pat to him, and if he decided to reciprocate, he could easily snap my neck. "Well, the engraving was just a small addition. More for my own personal enjoyment. Since you dislike it so much, consider it a punishment for escaping me twice now. But the real purpose of the bracelet is to ensure you can't leave my land."
I rose my head as his words slapped me. I looked to him, cocking my head. "How can a bracelet stop me from leaving?"
Hendrix's smile widened. "Inside the bracelet is a device. This device is connected to select points that have been placed around the vicinity of my large plot. Creating something similar to an electric fence. You know. The one used with dog collars. Anyway, if you happen to cross this fence. A very painful electric shock will be sent through your body. Now I know how much you like pain, so the farther you travel from this invisible line the more painful it will become," Hendrix's eyes narrowed at me, and I flinched back confused by his sudden intensity. "I know you are probably thinking that you can withstand the pain and power through, but at some point, the electricity will force your muscles to seize. All muscles except for your heart. If I wanted to kill you, I would do it myself. And so, you will fall motionless, until you lose consciousness. Do you understand?"
I found myself speechless. My heart fell, and my throat squeezed.
"Now don't look at me like that. That bracelet cost a great deal of money. And can you imagine how much work and cost was put into ensuring my immense property was properly surrounded. You should feel honored that so much effort was put in for your sake. And look on the bright side. Now you won't have to be locked in a small room. Now you can explore the entire mansion," Hendrix laughed.
