I shivered and pulled the blanket tighter to my body.

Just a little bit longer.

The floor jolted below me, and I quickly sat up confused. Looking around it was too dark to see things clearly, but with some time I discovered that I was in the back of some van. I looked down and found that I was still in Fidestro's swimsuit, but it was almost dry by now. I was holding a thin dirty blanket to my body to fight off the chill.

I was observing everything passively while my groggy mind started to come into focus. I remember I was at the pool on Hendrix's estate. There was a hot tub, and Eliza was kissing me. My mind finally snapped into awareness. I was drugged by Eliza, and I think I was taken away by someone. I must be in their van.

I was suddenly met with conflicting emotions. I was finally out of Hendrix's place and his control, which meant no electric fence, no constant sexual harassment, and no more constant surveillance. On the other hand, I had no idea where I was going. Thinking back to what Katherine and Eliza had told me, I may well be going into an even worse situation. On top of that I was going to miss the Angel's Heart. I never had a chance to say goodbye, and the poor flower may be waiting for me to visit. Loss overwhelmed me for a second and I held myself tight.

As strange as it was, I felt like I had been taken from another home. I had only been there a week, but I felt like I was finally understanding my place. I had goals, and I was familiar with what was there. I hated how Hendrix treated me, but he was becoming predictable. Now everything had changed. There was no comforting flower, supportive vampiric designer, or open spaces for me to explore. I swallowed my grief and set my mind to my current situation. It wasn't like I was planning to stay there anyway. This only moved up my plans.

I suddenly heard some muffled voices coming from what must have been the cab of the van. I moved in and listened closely.

"...that was the easiest pickup I've ever been a part of."

"Yeah, it helps when you got someone on the inside to clear all the red tape."

"We taking this one back to the warehouse?"

"Nah, there was an order for twenty humans from Winstering Heights. This will be the last human we'll need to fill that order. We're taking this one straight there to meet with Bruce who's got the others."

"Score! I can visit my folks while we're there."

"Oh yeah? You grew up in Winstering Heights?"

"Most werewolves in this area did. But being a beta there sucks. You're constantly bossed around and treated like dirt. The only perk is the pretty little humans running around that are free for a quick one. Alphas have all the real fun."

"It must be tough being a werewolf."

"I'm sure vampires have their own problems too."

I sighed. It seemed that I was heading to a werewolf neighborhood of some sort. I thought back to when I first saw a werewolf. He was the first one who wanted to purchase me from the market. I remember his feral green eyes and silver hair. I had thought he was going to eat me, and I never found out what he would have done with me if he had succeeded in purchasing me. The fact that they were buying twenty humans in one go may prove that they are buying us for food. I bit my lip and swore under my breath. I'll need to be careful, and be prepared to run at any moment.
