It was around noon when I entered my favorite brunch place, there were people sitting in their seats drinking coffee while some were reading different novels. I walked over to the cashier and ordered a large Iced Americano before heading over to the vacant seat near the window. I walked over to my seat, placed my drink on the center of the table and sat down.

I sat across a girl who was reading a classic novel called Wuthering Heights, she wore her hair up in a bun, she wore black framed glasses and she was wearing a white cotton blouse. I sipped my drink and as I placed it down, the door was opened by another customer. I looked behind me and saw an older man that looked in his early 40s scan the room until his eyes landed on the girl across from me.

He walked towards her and stood beside her, he tapped her shoulder and looked at her.

"Miss Amelia. I think it's time for us to go." He said showing her the time

She looked at the wall clock located at the middle of the two menu boards and sighed.

"I guess you're right Cedric." She said while closing her book and putting it in her bag. She sighed before finishing her Iced Vanilla latte.

She stood up and looked at me as she was walking behind him, she wore a mini skirt that reached on top her knees. She carried her black jacket and walked out the door. I looked to my right side and saw her walking to a black Range Rover that was parked in front of the cafe.

The guy opened the door and she went in, I watched them drove off and looked back at the table. I sighed and opened my phone to check my notifications. I scrolled down and saw a text from mom.

I tapped it and read it.

Mom: Hi Jake. Your father and I would like to take you out for dinner to discuss something important.

I thought about what they wanted to talk to me about and decided to reply

Jake: Sure mom. I'll meet at home.

I sent the message and closed my phone to finish my drink. I saw different kinds of people walk in and out of the cafe before heading home. I stood up, thanked the barista for my drink and left.

On my drive back home, I was craving for something sweet, so I decided to pass by Ingrid's Bakery to buy some donuts. I parked across the bakery and as I was walking in, I saw her again but this time she was with some friends.

I walked straight to the counter and saw Ingrid walking towards me

"Hi Jake. What can I get for you?" She said looking at me with a smile on her face

I looked at the menu board and back at the donut display casing which had my favorite glazed donuts.

"May I have a box of original glazed donuts plus a venti Iced latte?" I said looking at her and back at the girl who I saw earlier

"Sure. It's 5 pounds plus are you using cash or card?" she said while inputting my order in the POS system

"Umm, I'll pay through card." I said pulling out my wallet and handing her my Mastercard credit card

She got my card and swiped it, she inputted the amount and handed it over to me for my credit card pin. I typed it in and gave it back to her.

"Her name is Amelia by the way." She said noticing that I kept looking at her customer

"How do you know her?" I asked looking at her printing the receipt and looking back at me

"She and I are family friends." She said giving me the receipt and my credit card

"Ohh." I said getting the receipt and credit card, I placed them in my wallet before putting it in my back pocket.

"Why don't you grab a seat and I'll bring you your donuts and drink." She said pointing to a vacant table near the girl's table

"Sure. Thank you." I said shyly

I walked over to the table beside the girl's table,  I took out my jacket and sat on the chair facing the entrance door. She moved her chair forward so that I have space to sit down.

"Thanks." I said shyly

I heard a small "you're welcome" from her, I smiled and checked my phone for any notifications.  Scrolled through my social media accounts until my box of donuts and drink finally came.

"Thank you Ingrid." I said as she placed them slowly on the table

"No problem. Let me know if there's anything I can do for you." She said smiling

As she walked towards the counter, I sipped my drink and heard her voice.

"Hey. How do you know Ingrid?" She asked while waiting for me to finish drinking

Her voice sounded half British, I placed my drink on the table and shifted my body that was now facing the table across from me.

"She and I grew up in the same neighborhood." I said looking at her and back at her friends who was obviously listening

"Funny. It's weird how I never seen you around." She said eyeing me up and down like I'm some nobody to her

"I mean. I come here a lot but it's weird that I never saw you here." I said realizing that I may have sounded concerned

"Why? Do you like me?" She said confidently, she looked at her friends giggling and back at me.

"Ugh!! As if." I said looking at her annoyingly

"I think you're lying." She said in a serious tone

"Why do you say that I'm lying?" I said angrily

"Because, I saw you at the cafe earlier and you're here now." She said crossing her arms

"It's called coincidence darling." I said winking at her

"Agh. Call it coincidence or whatever but I'm not dealing with this. Have a good day!" She said standing up and walking back to her friends

"Whatever you say darling. Have a good day too." I said giggling

I heard a frustrated sigh and continued drinking before I saw her and her friends walking out the door. She looked back at me with an annoying look on her face. I waved bye and laughed a bit.

After a few minutes of her leaving, I finished my drink before walking out the door, I saw her talking with a guy. I stepped out for a smoke and watched them.

"Ewww. Get away from me Simon." She said pushing him away

"Why? Can't you just let me explain?" A guy who wore a band tshirt and ripped jeans said

"Hey! She said to get away from her." I said throwing my cigarette on the garbage can and walking towards them.

I walked towards them and grabbed his arm away from her.

"Who are you mate?" He asked while shaking his arm

"Her boyfriend." I said wrapping my arm around her.
