RAVI's POV..
I breathed in the air of Little Kilton's hospital, tapping my foot anxiously onto the tiled floor.
I heard my heart beating, it was louder than anything else in the empty waiting room. I ran my fingers through my greasy hair, I hadn't showered in three days, I hadn't left the hospital since she arrived here. The thick wall might have separated us, but we where together. I replayed the moment in my head, her hands, her lips, her eyes- the way they looked up at me with plenty of fear. I squinted my eyes shut- trying to get the image out of my head, just then- a long and loud beeping sound came from her room. Along with the sound of a nurse and a few doctors running into the room. I looked up from the ground and towards her room.
"God somebody turn the oxygen on."
My heart beat picked up even more, and I stood up.
As soon as I was about to enter the room- a nurse approached.
"Sir- you can't go in there. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Please sit down-"
I shook my head, backing up as I saw the amount of fear on the nurse's face aswell.
Something was wrong.
I stumbled back into a chair, immediately beginning to fidget with my fingers.
no. what's wrong: no.
A million thoughts ran through my head.
Oh god Pip.
{45 MINUTES LATER..}
"Sir? Are you Ravi Singh?"
I looked up, wiping the tears of stress off of my face. The doctors face had 'i'm sorry' written all over it. I stood up, now matching height with the doctor.
"Yeah. Yea that's me."
"Look kid, uhm- Pippa she's.. she's still with us but- we don't know for how long."
My heart sunk, all the way to my feet. I put my hands behind my head.
"No. No. What do you mean you don't know for how long?" My voice cracked as I tried to swallow the lump moving up my throat.
"Son she's in critical condition. We don't know if she'll make it- You just...You might want to say your goodbyes before she goes into surgery again."
A tear left my eye has I tried to comprehend the words this man was telling me.
My Pip? Gone?. No. No.
But I couldn't protest. I couldn't deny the offer of saying goodbye to the love of my life.
I nodded and the doctor tried to give me a smile, on which I didn't return. I followed him into the small room.
"I'll give you guys some time." He whispered, placing a cold hand on my shoulder and shutting the door behind me. I turned without a response and looked at her bed.
She layed there, tubes hooked into her nose, IV's running on and into her arms.
Her eyes where swollen, but she looked at me.
"Ravi?" she said, in a small sickly voice.
My eyes filled with tears as I stepped closer to the bed, and then next to the chair right next to it.
"Hey darlin'."
"T-The doctors. They said I might not make it."
"I know. They told me. But your a fighter, your going to get through this, sarge."
"Ravi?"
"Yea?"
"Please dont fall in love with someone else when I'm gone."
"..."
Silence filled the room, and my heart shattered right back to a million pieces, I swallowed the lump in my throat and leaned towards her.
"Pippa, your my sarge. You always will be. Nobody can or will replace you, I love you forever. No matter what."
Her eyes watered with a small smile and she put a soft hand on my face.
"I love you Ravi."
I pressed my forehead close to her, like we always used to do.
Before the Andie Bell case.
Before finding out Sal was innocent.
Before the Jaime Reynolds case.
Before DT.
Before Max Hastings.
and here I was, with the love of my life, dying right infront of me.
"I love you more Sarge."
..
..
TIME SKIP: AFTER THE SURGERY.Yet again, I sat anxiously inside the waiting room, just like I had been for the past four and half hours. I was about to go to the restroom for the eighth time when a wooden door creaked open and a pair of light footsteps approached me.
"Ravi? Her surgery is complete."
I said a quick prayer in my head, then looked up at the nurse with nothing but faith & hope inside of me.
"Oh- I- Can I please come see her- please?"
The nurse clicked her tongue, then cleared her throat.
"I'm sorry, we can't allow that."
I looked at her again with nothing but confusion, and denial.
What was that supposed to mean?
Was she really..
No.
"No.. what-"
And just then the nurse laughed, and a large grin spread across her face. I was about to ask her what was funny when a sound came from around the corner into the room. I looked, and there in a wheelchair was Pip. She had a smaller smile than the nurse, but it was still a smile. I jumped up out of my seat and ran to Pippa.
"PIP."
My eyes filled with happy tears, and I emphasized her instantly., holding her close and smelling a sweet perfume on her.
"I'm still here,Ravi."
