''No, no, let's talk about it. We got to talk to each other without being at each other's throats-''
''And yet, you have already lied to me,'' I said crossing my arms to show my defiance, ''seems like you do not take me that seriously.'' I got up and walked over to him with my bare feet, the ground was cold, but I wanted to show him that no matter what I was still in control. ''But I do have to say this was a good strategic move, I like the way you think.'' I winked at him for the first time throughout this whole evening.
''You just switched your whole demeanour, colour me impressed, who would've thought?'' He said studying my body language, ''looks like I wasn't the only one who didn't let his guard down.''
''You seemed almost too nice, and I don't know if you noticed, but I despise overly sweet things, but I do have to say this a common mistake, so don't be too hard on yourself.'' I said getting closer to him, I didn't really have a plan what to do, but I will not be letting him walk over me. ''Have you noticed how the nice guys mostly turn out to be the most awful, and guess why?'' I noticed him gaping at me and flashed a smile to make him uncomfortable by the point I have been dying to make, ''It's always because they truly think that they're nice!''
I had finally reached him and forcefully pulled him up to my face using his tie. ''They base their mindset on how great they are to women, they always think everyone is inferior except them, isn't that marvellous to think about?'' I said in a snide manner.
''Now my question to you is are you a nice guy?'' I held up my finger to his face, ''sh, shhh, shhh now think carefully before answering, understood darling?'' Hoping that the words darling would leave him puzzled. But somehow not even a minute later.
''Look, -''
''Nuh-uh, it was a yes or no question,'' this was my ultimate test, which I think he caught on quickly, but as long as he could communicate with me and not put on a gentleman persona, ''now please continue.'' I said letting go off his tie and lifting my fingers off his lips. The only thing I wasn't willing to do is step away from him, I was not going to give him the closure of me getting off his back.
''Yes, because -''
''Of course, how could anyone think otherwise?'' I was acting as dramatically as I could when some words caught my attention.
''You're not better than any of those nice lads, are you? Considering the fact that you just assumed that you're great and I'm wrong, did I pass the test?'' He had a stern look on his face, which proved how he was not going to let me despise him.
''Not yet, please explain your thoughts on this debate.''
''I understand that this is a very delicate and for lots of men an uncomfortable conversation,'' He looked very serious, and I must give him the medal of the smoothest talking out of the conversation. The worst mistake he could've made, I thought I made my point clear. But I guess not, it wasn't obvious enough that I just wanted him to talk to me and not be a stone wall. At least he wasn't a push-over. Pushovers are the worst to deal with, always complaining how bad their life is and that they're so sorry for not realizing that they have upset me. Oh, I-. No. Only the men, I hadn't meant women. I understand why they must do that, it's not their fault. They have no choice. Not to even mention that they're killed because they birth girls. But if it's a boy, they couldn't care less about the woman even if her birth was traumatic. It was her only duty anyway, wasn't it? ''but you are right, I have also noticed people's audacity outweighs their logical thinking''. That cleared my head, and I was brought back to earth.
''Alright, alright,'' I sighed and let myself relax, ''You have passed, but you're not off the hook yet young mister. Now if you don't mind, could you perhaps enlighten me on everything'' I turned and started walking toward my heels, but to be honest a thousand thoughts were swarming my head was cloudy with rage and confusion. I have to admit this was quite a show I put up in front of him, but I was not going to let myself be the damsel in distress. I love being a woman, and I cannot wait for everyone to finally realize how powerful women actually are.
So, it felt truly lifting to finally subside this whole ordeal.
He snapped me out of my thinking again: ''I don't know much either, my parents just pointed at you and said that I was arranged to marry you.''
''You were also kept in the dark about this whole ordeal until the very end?'' I was pleasantly suprised, turns out my mother just decided it on a whim. At least we were both in the same boat, so he can't have an upper hand on me. That information made me smirk, and I'm certain he noticed me completly relaxing and letting go of any tension left between us.
''You may have taken this the wrong way, I knew about this whole deal about a year ago.''
''Excuse me? Why was I kept in the dark? And why didn't you just tell me instead of beating around the bush?"
''I thought you knew about this whole... mess. But when I saw you crying, I realized you genuinely had no idea.''
I had no words left, I was thinking about how my mother so easily gave me away without even discussing it with me.
