...
You let out a breath of warm air. It becomes white puffs at the touch of winter. You glanced down at the watch on your wrist. It read 10:30 PM.
"He's late." You muttered. "Has something happened to him?"
"(Y/N)!"
'Speaking of the devil.' You turned and there he was—Kevin Kaslana, your boyfriend. The white-haired man runs to your side, excited to see you after so long. He takes a brief moment to catch his breath before greeting you.
"Were you waiting long?" He asked with a smile.
You shook your head. "I was just about to look for you."
"Sorry. Work took longer than I expected." He takes your hand, offering them a blanket of warmth against the sheer cold. "Are you hungry? There's a cafe nearby. I heard that it's popular among the locals."
You were confused as to why he was talking about food, but you replied to him nonetheless.
"Isn't everyone waiting for us?" You suppose your definition of 'replying' meant 'questioning' your boyfriend on his intentions.
Of course, you had your theories as to why Kevin brought up the idea of food. One reason could be that he didn't want to participate in tonight's activity which was making dumplings. It is a well-known fact that Kevin cannot cook well so it would not be far-fetched to assume that that would be the reason why Kevin suggest going to a cafe tonight.
"They can wait," Kevin said, snapping you out of your thoughts. "Shall we go?"
Whatever the case may be, you were perfectly okay with satisfying his request. After all, this was one of the few days you get to be with him. Why not spoil the prince? Even if he was trying to avoid making dumplings.
You squeezed his hand. "Let's go."
...
Your first impression of the cafe was that it was a remarkable establishment. It had all the makings of a successful business and had little to no faults. Whoever designed the place knew exactly what they were doing. You couldn't help but marvel at the place. You felt your intertwined hand being tugged. Your eyes tore away from the establishment and met with a pair of cerulean blue eyes.
"Shall we go inside?" Your boyfriend asked.
You had no reason to object. "Sure."
Kevin's mouth breaks into a smile. Before you know it, your boyfriend was pulling you to the door, unable to conceal how happy he was. If you didn't know any better, you'd say that Kevin was more excited about this trip than you were. You could hardly keep up with him, not surprising given his physique. His behavior confused you. Was he that happy to put tonight's dumpling-making behind his back?
"You're excited." You noted after observing how he walked. "Is going to a cafe that exciting?"
You will admit, the cafe is extraordinary, but at the end of the day, the cafe is simply a cafe. It isn't anything special. You were starting to doubt that cooking had anything to do with his behavior.
"Of course I'm excited." Kevin's answer leaves you stupefied. It is then that he turns around, surprising you by how unfazed he looked. This was most certainly not the face of a man who was avoiding his problems. "I get to spend time with you."
Oh.
Maybe you had it all wrong.
"I see." You should've known. "I'm also happy that I get to spend time with you."
