Living in the Past

Chapter 18

I probably rode my horse without stopping for hours. After what seemed like forever I finally reached the border of Avalor. This is it, I am gonna leave the place where I grew up in, now that I am actually doing it, I am scared. I don't want to leave my home behind, I don't know how I am going to live without my family. But I know I need to do this. For my family, for Elena, for abuelos and for my little princess Isa. I need to do this for them, so they don't have to suffer because of me. They have already been through so much because of my mistakes I can't put them through more. I get down from horse, take the reins in my hands and walk across the border. I look back to the place that I called home for my entire life one last time, and say goodbye. Then I get back on my horse and ride away.

"Abuela, by when do you think Esteban is going to be back, I want to show him the new designs for my invention" Isa asked. 

"I don't know mijita, but I am sure he would be back soon enough, why don't you go and read a book for the time being?" Luisa replied. 

"Ok, I'll see you later abuela." Isa said.

Time skip

"Mi amor it's been really long, Esteban should be back home already." Luisa said. 

"I know, but maybe he and his friends are just enjoying themselves. You know how when Esteban was young he used to stay out with his friends till past midnight. I am sure he is fine." Fransisco replied. 

"But, abuelo he would have told us if he was going to stay out late. I am getting worried. I think I should send a search party out for him. I could ask the jaquins for help. Elena said. 

"I know you guys are getting worried but let's just wait for a little while. If he still isn't back in an hour or so we can look for him." Fransisco said

Everyone agreed but inside their mind the three were worried for Esteban, they all had a bad feeling about this. Even though they were all trying to convince themselves that everything was fine, their mind just did not settle. Alas, all they could do was wait and hope that Esteban would be back home soon.
