It has been a few weeks since Timothy had last interacted with Peter Parker. Recently, Timothy has become a member of the decathlon, since one of their members dropped out last minute and they have a huge academic decathlon coming up in Washington DC. The Midtown High team had been working hard to ensure their victory, so Timothy has been eliminating distractions to make it happen.
Currently, the group of them is standing near a large yellow bus, waiting to get on. They are dressed in their yellow uniform jackets.
"I hate the color yellow." MJ complains, and Timothy scoffs out a laugh.
"You're so emo MJ," he jokes, and his sister glares at him, despising that word, "you need to be more like me. Look, yellow brings out my natural, glowing complexion!" He gestures to himself dramatically, and Liz, having been standing near them and listening causally, snickers at him.
"I'll punch that glowing complexion right off of you if you don't shut up." MJ mutters.
"You're wounding my complexion with your diminishing words."
The doors to the bus finally open, and MJ huffs out a quick 'finally' before getting on immediately, leaving Timothy behind just as a running figure approaches the group.
"Hey look," Abe points at the figure, "It's Peter."
Timothy's head whips in the direction of Peter, a smile brightening his features once more.
"Hey guys." Peter says once he's approached the team, and everyone gives him a mixture of confused and pissed off looks.
"Peter?" Liz questions, just as another member of the group goes:
"Hey buddy!"
Peter looks at the exasperated group.
"Yeah, I was hoping maybe I could rejoin the team?" He asks, and that sets Flash off, as he steps forward to face Peter, clearly pissed.
"No," He bluntly responds, "no way. You can't just quit on us, stroll up, and be welcomed back by everybody."
For a second Peter looks stunned, and then the teacher walks out of the bus, and the second he spots Peter a smile appears on his face.
"Hey Peter, welcome back!" He beams, "Flash, you're back to being first alternate."
"What?"
Timothy can't help but feel sympathetic for Flash. It isn't really fair that Peter is welcomed back on the main team just like that after abandoning them... but... if it improves their chances of winning then Timothy supposes it's what's best.
"He's taking your place." Abe reiterates, before getting on the bus. Soon after he enters, MJ pokes her head out of one of the windows.
"Excuse me, can we go already? Timothy and I were hoping to get in some light protesting in front of one of the embassies before dinner, so..."
"Protesting is quite patriotic sir." Timothy explains, and the teacher sighs.
"Alright, let's get on the bus!" he exclaims, and people start piling in.
Timothy hangs behind, before following Peter onto the bus, and then sitting in the seat next to him, which caused Peter to blush at the close contact between him and his crush. I mean, they're practically shoulder to shoulder.
"I didn't know you were the one I replaced on the team." Timothy comments with a smile, hoping to engage the cute boy in conversation.
"Y-yeah, how Ironic."
"Why did you quit the team?"
Of course, Peter couldn't tell Timothy the real reason he quit the team, (cough cough, because he's Spider-Man, cough). So he stumbles through his brain, concocting an excuse.
"W-well, I needed to help my aunt May around the house, especially after uncle Ben..." he doesn't say anymore at the thought of his late uncle, but Timothy seems to understand, shooting Peter a sympathetic look.
"That's very noble of you Peter." Timothy smiles, and Peter can feel his face heating up at his crushes intense gaze.
"Thank you."
There's a moment of silence between the two, before Peter speaks up again, feeling a bit more confident talking to Timothy now.
"I'm glad I'm back now though..." He takes a deep breath, mentally preparing himself for what he's going to say next, "especially since you're on the team now."
Peter looks up at Timothy, his chocolate brown eyes meeting icy blue, wide with surprise. Timothy smirks slightly, into Peter's newfound courage, and goes to say something in response, just as Liz chimes in, interrupting the two boys.
"How about we practice before the decathlon?" She exclaims, and Peter quickly turns away from Timothy, realizing what he had said, and answered Liz with a fake enthusiastic:
"Yeah sure!"
A/N: Sorry about the super late update. I started writing this in high school and I am now almost a junior in college. I still love Spider-Man, but not this version as much anymore. I want to keep updating this, as I was really proud of this in high school, and I never expected it to have as many views as it currently does. I haven't updated this story since I made a No-Way-Home chapter all the way back when that came out, and I don't know when I'll update this again cause my writing has changed quite a bit since I started this.
I want to thank everyone that had read this story so far, and everyone who will read this chapter! Though I don't update often, I still appreciate you!
